Book of the Week – Want You Dead by Peter James
Want you deadSomething different this week, a dark suspense novel for you.

Bit of a contrast to the chick-lit from last week, eh! Peter James is a massively successful British crime author behind the Roy Grace series. Although this is the tenth in the series, I’ve downloaded the first book too (I wanted to get into another series as I’m suffering Jack Reacher withdrawal symptoms!).

Pals on Facebook recommended reading this series from the beginning – but this is his latest. If you’re a fan of his books, let me know why by leaving a comment below. Click here to see his Amazon page and read about each novel.

Visit my Friday Fiction Focus on my website's Read It Write It Sell It – Go-Large page to see another cheeky extract fom my new novel, Hawaiian Retreat, due out 29th June!

Plus, there's: another tease of the front cover (full reveal here in two weeks time); writing workshops for script writers and authors of romantic suspense; and more tips for self-publishers and would-be writers.

Click here to read it, especially if you’d like to self-publish or write a novel yourself.

Next week – 'Love in 90 Days' – a manual!

Sugar advertThought you might like this little look at how things used to be in the ‘old’ days! A bit like when they used to ‘recommend’ smoking for nerves in the 1930’s, eh?! Scary stuff!

EcoeggTip of the week - following our fabulously successful Ecoegg Today's Special Value this week, I thought I’d mention it again if you or the family have the itches.

If you especially suffer after a bath – firstly, consider your soap ingredients, then consider your washing powder – especially if you're like my lovely daughter Lauren.

I told the story on air this week about her skin having been saved by Liz Earle’s orange body wash all those years ago (and high levels of EPA fish oils).

But recently, the itches came back – she was scratching a lot. Well, it was the washing powder again!

After just two weeks since reverting back to Ecoegg, the irritants were out of her clothes, simples! Worth a try, don’t you think? I’m ok with SLS in soaps and shower products too, but if you’re not, watch out for ones that are sulphate free – we do several now including Liz’s. And do try Ecoegg!

So this week it could have been this one of me on the catwalk or this one of Ingrid and me getting tongue tied.

But the absolute winner has to be the one they all talked about the next day, and which 'It’ll be Alright on the Night' got wind of straight away. As they said on Twitter afterwards – never work with children, animals, or Debbie Flint. Oooops! Lol.

Debbie's daughterLovely Lolly I mentioned my daughter above wiht the Ecoegg – here’s a smashing pic that makes me proud to be her Mum! I made her I did!

Enjoying the garden in the recent sunshine – it’s nice to be spending more time with her now they’re temporarily staying with me, I must say!

Every time she visits QVC she goes away with more things to buy!

QVC QueenAre you a QVC QUEEN? This lovely pic was created by Dawn Robinson on Facebook this week, who is apparently a very big beauty addict!

So how timely in Beauty month that we’ve now set up a group for raving fans of your fave selly-telly channel – with Dawn and everyone who commented on her pic saying they were also QVC Queens too. Come ping a request – just search ‘I’m a qvc queen’ – it’s a no-troll zone! Yay! First topic – Judith Williams (TSV this weekend!)

Facebook funny – Labrador Excited When Soldier Returns from Deployment from ‘It's a Lab Thing blog’ oh how looooovely! It’ll make you smile, and if you’re like me, it’ll bring a little tear to your eye! Blessss!

WATCH – 'Edge of Tomorrow'
Wow!! What a fabulous film!

I realised some time ago that I’m drawn to movies about doing things over, second chances, time travel and ‘what if’s ('Butterfly Effect', 'Back to the Future', 'Sliding Doors', 'Frequency' etc).

Well, this film is a cross between one of my faves ever – 'Groundhog Day' and 'War of the Worlds'!

It’s a super-exciting post-apocalyptic type plot – and so worth going to see if you like your 3 As: action pacy, acting sharp, and actuality realistic!

I loved the mood they created in this film – and I was delighted with the plot explaining why time played over and over. Tom Cruise gets better and better and played against his type at the start. It was also pretty funny in parts!

A definite 8.75, almost 9 out of ten! I will definitely see it again. Loved it. If you went to see it too, like I suggested last week, what did you think? Leave me a comment below!

Here’s the extended trailer this time – and for more insights into the movie, click here, for some Edge of Tomorrow behind the scenes exclusives in a thirteen minute featurette!

BTW – I did meet up with Ginetta and we had a fab time – she’s given me some info about Italian dinner parties and a superb old castle for my Tuscany part of my new novel. And the old school pals postponed so I just wrote loads instead; we’ll do it again sometime soon!

Have a fab week!

P.S – loved this review of 'Hawaiian Affair' from amazon.com – see if you can spot the funny typo! Lol! (HA is the second in the trilogy. Hawaiian Escape is first.)

“This book was a wonderful read! I loved the playing between character! I couldn't put it down and read it in 3 days while on vacation this summer (had to stop to sleep and feel my fiancé and kids!) I was even reading it on the beach while my family swam! Look forward to reading the prequel! Take care, Sam :-)”

Love all the products in your competition: I alternate between Liz Earle’s body wash whose scent I adore with L’Occitane’s Almond oil whose texture I love. Ultrasun’s 50 SPF face cream is a life saviour for me as I’m photosensitive due to medication!

I love most of the products, but for summer, Ultrasun’s my favourite because everyone in the family, even those who hate cream, can cope with applying sunscreen once a day, which is all you need.

Hey Debs, please put me into comp to win these beautiful products. The Liz Earle body wash smell divine & mine ran out last week:-( I have always treated my dad & sis to the L’Occitaine Almond oil as they have dry skin & last time I visited my parents I got to try dad’s & OMG wish I’d kept one back to treat me, have just bought anti-pigmentation SPF instead of normal duos from Ultrasun ( as they are better value & I can’t work for health reasons) because I’ve started to get a lot of pigmentation on face in last 2yrs which is driving me mad as very noticeable (even with concealer) & would like to give it a good 6mths to see if it can reduce my pigmentation & stop more from appearing (my hands are badly marked also in last few yrs inspite of Ultrasun face 30 on them last yr & face 50 this yr-horrible, only 48yrs now dread to think what they might look like in few yrs :'( !)

Love it all Debbie. I am a huge Liz Earle fan but Ultrasun is my favourite because I have an English Rose skin (named English rose by my American friends). Know I am well protected with Ultrasun.

Oooh how do I choose a favourite from these? Well, if I have to then it is L’Occitane Almond Oil. I use this in the shower in the mornings and it always cocoons me in its warm and uplifting aroma. It leaves my skin feeling soft and silky too. Perfect

    Hi Debbie,
We adore Ultrasun, we have the family 500ml, sports 500ml, 2 x face 50ml. It certainly gives me the confidence that I am protecting not only myself, hubby but also the 3 kids who all have differing skins – my youngest has ezcema. We all love it knowing one application and we are done for the day and it’s so easy to apply our 5 year old can apply it to herself easily.
Can’t wait for Back To You to return in September

Has to be Almond Shower Oil. This product combines decadence and practicality beautifully. Every time I use it, it leaves my skin wonderfully soft and moisturised. Fab, fab, fab product! Thanks Debbie.

    Hi Debby
Please enter me into your June Competition.
I am mainly posting to say how much I love Peter James. He is my all time favourite author. I love his Roy Grace series but I have loved his books since the early 90’s when I devoured his supernatural novels. Really scary!! So glad to see you have chosen him for your book of the week.

    Hi Debbie
The almond oil is my favourite, it smells wonderful and it keeps my skin smooth and supple, let alone leaving the bathroom with the most beautiful smell .

Choose a favourite. It has to be almond shower oil being a new mum (I have 8 week old baby) it leaves my skin so soft no need to moisturise so saves me time!!!!

Debs you always make me smile! Just ordered the new anti-pigmentation Ultrasun face 50. Usually use the family 30 but can’t wait to try this. Would love an extra one to use for my hands and arms.

What a difficult choice, I love using them all, but, at this time of year it has to be Ultrasun. Along with Ultrasun lip balm it offers amazing protection for my mature, fair and freckled skin allowing me to relax and enjoy playing bowls.
