I do hope you had a happy Easter? What a long break! Do anything exciting? This week, I'm announcing my TiFFT for April – becoming a Great Aunt – well that's something you don't do for the first time every month!
Also – a bit of a picture gallery for you this week, a bit like a photo-diary of the last couple of weeks' adventures. Plus how me and my gang turned out like the Beverley Sisters on Royal Wedding Day – as well as a funny clip from one of our kitchen shows!
Well it wasn't long before Easter that I became a Great Auntie for the first time – which means one of my siblings – my brother David – has become a granddad! Scary! Well at least that's some way away for me yet (I hope! Hehe).
Here's a pic of the happy family – Ashley and Josh and new baby Abi-Grace. Can't think WHY she didn't take my advice of our ancestor's name Fanny! : – ) Lol. Still at least she named her after one of my puppies! Just kidding – our great aunt was Grace, hence the dog's name too. And it's a popular name at the moment I think.
I like Abi too – one of my best friends, a radio pal from Piccadilly Radio years ago, Abigail Bonell, inspired me so much that Bradley would have been Abigail had he been a girl. And out of interest, Lauren could have been Todd or Elliot, or a few years later would have been Bethany.
Actually even 21 years ago I knew she was going to be a girl, 'cos I overheard one of the midwives training a nurse, saying 'you can see it's XX' – they probably thought we all had pregnant brain and wouldn't realise I'd knew she meant chromosomes! Glad I knew tho, it made sorting out the nursery far easier.
Anyway this happy occasion just had to be my 'Try it for the First Time' club event of the month, didn't it! Watch out for a fascinating one for May – have already done it – it concerns learning how to do something really important, very fast! Can you guess?
Fiance and fiancee
Over the break we also had a big family get together to mark the engagement of my little boy (not!) Brad to his lovely lady Kari. It was quite a turn out. Considering there are 15 cousins now, and most of them came, plus many of Kari's family, it's a wonder the Windmill in Dorking could cope!
Congrats once again to them and hugs to everyone who came along, including proud 'Nanny' Alison – Ashley's mum, and proud 'grandnana' Lesley – my mum! Four generations! And now with Kari in the fold as a new 'daughter in law' this is my own little extended family!
Red, white and 'Oo'!
Had to mention the Royal Wedding of course, didn't I! Had a small bunch of relatives over on the morning to watch it all live – and did shed a tear – as my Facebook pals will know – when William mouthed 'you look beautiful' at the altar! Ahhhh! What was your favourite moment?
We said 'wear red, white and blue' – but quite by accident three of us – my sister Linda, me and niece Chloe, all wore navy jeans, white tops and red cardis – funny! Then we all played board games outside in the lovely weather – weren't we lucky the rain held off? Me and brother Glenn won – despite a debate about whether the word 'Triton' should be allowed!
When I got to work late that night, it was fun to see how the backstage team led by our lovely floor manager Vanessa and co , had decorated the prep room – where we keep all the products before they go on air! If you remember the Santa's Grotto at Christmas? Well they excelled themselves with a clever wall 'muriel'! Colourful and wonderful – just like the Royal Wedding itself! Who knows, maybe I'll get my own special kiss sometime soon! (Actually one of the guests might be helping me in that – more news soon!)
Actually I quite like capers – did some homemade sauce at the weekend, when we ran out of tartare! Hehe. Inspired by Simon Brown of course – he's so good in the kitchen. Mind you, the other day on air, we were both a bit hungry when we did a tea-time show, and the TSV microwave 'grill' had made a tasty, crunchy, toastie (trying saying that fast!) which I couldn't resist munching on air and made him jealous! Lol. But it did give rise to some giggles – I've put the moment here for you to raise a smile!
Anyway must go – still got to finish my story for my mid-May self-imposed deadline and trip to Devon to see writing friend! And am looking forward to trying out the Alpha-H Today's Special Value next week – have just begun trialling it – love the hydrating cream – face skin so soft this morning! Anyone tried it, leave a comment and let me know how it's worked for you too!
Best wishes and have a great weekend! Am going to a Deepak Chopra talk in London on Saturday for an early birthday celebration (10th) and back on air Sunday night with a fab craft TSV!
