This year, although I am only 56, not some major birthday, I have a huge amount of celebrations planned. Running the vintage tea rooms at my place in Sheepwash in Devon on Monday was just part of it, and it all went terribly well, with lots of delicious cakes being baked, and lots of people having a wonderful time in the sunshine. I decorated my place with vintage flags and the girls wore little pinnies.
I do love running a tea rooms from time to time for charity, my medical detection dogs will be very pleased as we managed to raise enough to buy them a sorely needed iPad for the training lab which is on their wish list. I think one day when I’m an old granny I will do this sort of thing full time. Oh I forgot – I am a granny already ha, ha.
So far I’ve had lots more celebrations as well. See snippets below. And even more to come…
Today is my birthday! And I am on air in the afternoon, so I can go out to the theatre with my son in the evening. Watch out for the Today’s Special Value offer – a Micro Chef Microwave Grill with steam plate and muffin cases including in my 4 PM show! Click here to see it and buy it.
Friday, Joe brown’s sequin overlay top, well under £30, is the today’s special value, and the great news is it is on an early bird order link, and you can see it and buy it here now.
Amazingly Saturday’s superb set from massive beauty brand Benefit is also on an early bird order link here – click to see and buy the three-piece Ultimate Lash collection. It contains three of their mascaras including two iconic hero products Roller Lash and They’re Real, which are best sellers in the UK and the brand new BADgal Bang mascara, well worth a try.
Cannot wait for Saturday night at midnight as I will be launching the new Amazon deal with my telly hubby Lee Hohbein – at last, the Echo Spot smart speaker is on offer. I cannot live without my Echo devices. I have three in my home in Devon, and I carry around an Amazon Fire tablet with Alexa built-in, when I am in London. Truly genius, from taking your shopping list to showing me my dogs in my kitchen and being able to listen to them or talk to them, to scanning a product in my hand and bringing it up on the Amazon store, let alone all the wonderful music functions, it is genius. Sheer genius. Highly recommended and a great saving, do join us Saturday at midnight and through Sunday while stocks last – but be warned, they often sell-out!
Finally join me on Sunday night at midnight as I launch Michael Perry’s garden world TSV with a Garden Reflections contemporary LED water feature, and watch out for several shows from this charming chappy during the day, as well as three hours with Richard from 9am till 12pm, a Monday feature during early May it seems!
See below for the rest of next week.
Met up last Friday with my treasured writing group pals, and caught up with how many books they’ve all now written! Maureen (Merryn Allingham) is top with over a dozen, and Carolyn Mahony’s crime books are doing well too – she is so prolific lately it puts my paltry five novels to shame! That’s spurred me on to get French or Dutch – my period saga – finished this summer… We met at a cafe near Euston and it was another lovely day.
What an amazing idea. I was in the a coffee shop in nearby Holsworthy with my lovely friend Jude having their delicious chicken pie, when I noticed this on the table. What a great idea and how lovely. I wish they would do this everywhere. A little notice that says you’re welcome to join me and share my table. The lovely ladies who run it, Trudy and Jackie, lead the way as they are also chatty and friendly. And people are so friendly and to talk to each other outside of London and the south-east, I find. What’s it like where you are?
Saw mum and sis at their beautiful woodland estate in Banstead last Saturday and enjoyed the arrival of the sunshine. I can’t stay out in it for long due to my rare genetic skin condition called EPP but it was so relaxing and a lovely view.
This was my favourite meal this week, given how warm it was. I was left in charge of doing the dinner for the guests when Wendy was away one night, and I made my version of a tuna Nicoise salad. Didn’t have runner beans so found some asparagus instead, and it was absolutely delicious! When it’s warm I just feel like a salad. Don’t you? X
Catch up with Emma from Imedeen
Also had a smashing supper with my lovely friend Emma from Imedeen. She said I don’t look my age, 56, and I know a lot of it is to do with staying out of the sun. But I really rate their Prime 50 Renewal skincare supplements, go here to see all the options. Another item I bought this week was Ultrasun tubes of SPF 50 – it should be stockpiled I think. I have bought some for the baby Blake Katherine, my granddaughter, as they go off on their summer holiday soon. I am meeting up with her and my lovely son Brad, pregnant daughter Lauren and their partners on Sunday. I have not seen baby for a while and I cannot wait. She is only four months old now! How time flies. Lauren also had her big scan last week and showed me the photos. As you may know if you are a regular reader, I am only posting pictures of the babies, as requested by my kids, on my website and from this QVC blog – not on general social media posts. More in next week’s update.
Book of the week and Watch:
Not much time for anything else this week so I’ve lumped these two regular features together.
The Split – I’ve got this one on my list, as it looks compelling – a family law drama series on BBC1 – are you watching it? I would have been a barrister in another life, so I love this stuff.
Book of the Week – Jackie Kabler’s latest! Our very own Kabler has her third novel out and I can’t wait for it to be on audiobook. I enjoyed her first two about the crime-solving newsroom reporter so I bet the third will be fab!
This week on QVC – sneaky peaks from Monday 14th onwards:
Monday – as promised the Garden Reflections contemporary water feature
Tuesday – Gtech return with the Mark 2 handheld vacuum at a brilliant price of around £120.
Wednesday – the lovely fashionista Attitudes by Renee is back with a pack of two maxi dresses. Ome printed, one plain, in a choice of regular or petite length
Thursday – our fabulous faux flower collection, Peony brings an amazing statement offering -an olive tree in concrete square pot. With a buy more save more, this should make any garden look wonderful all year round.
Friday – we have the lovely Windsor flap over shoulder bag from Radley London.
And join me Friday night, the 18th, at midnight for a brand-new beauty tool Today’s Special Value from Charlotte and Lauren from LAB Life + Beauty – making an amazing difference to people‘s faces.
Plus I’m looking forward to Antthony returning that weekend! As well as Liz Earle being back with some magical shows for superb skincare on Sunday the 20th. Watch out for early bird links in next week’s Thursday blog!
I also want to give you an early morning alert for a midday show on Sunday the 20th, with lovely Nikki from Lola Rose – a two hour chat show special till 2pm, celebrating 15 years on QVC with P&P offers. Looking forward to it.
Next week on the blog:
More birthday celebrations with my family, theatre with my son, lunch with my siblings, Sunday dinner with my granddaughter, Gary Barlow on Monday in Brighton with my sis, and a quick trip to France to write my book. Oh my God will my feet touch the floor?! If you can’t wait to keep in touch, please make sure you follow my social media – all of it can be found below and I would seriously recommend that you like the page on my Facebook as that’s where the news happens first.
