The end of an era is upon us. After over 12 glorious years on QVC, the final show of The Jacqueline Kennedy Collection is airing this week.
The show first aired on QVC UK in 2001, and since then The Jacqueline Kennedy Collection has dazzled us with gorgeous replicas and Jackie-inspired designs.
We caught up with guest Phil Katz, who wanted to share with us the story behind the collection as well as why they have deicded to move on, and what the future may hold…
"The Jacqueline Kennedy Collection was begun in 1997 in order to replicate pieces of jewelry once worn by Jacqueline Kennedy. As the most photographed woman in the world, the public worldwide followed her choices in fashion. Once Jackie wore something, every woman in the world wanted to have ‘The Jackie Look’, particularly her accessories and her jewellery. And more than just achieve her ‘look’, we wanted to know more about where and how she acquired those pieces. As research continued, the stories behind the pieces were as wonderful as the pieces themselves; gifts from JFK, Heads of State, Royalty, Heirloom pieces and more. Some of the ‘givers’ were as famous as Jackie was.
"So, rather than just manufacture replicas, we looked for a way of being able to tell the stories of the pieces, and Jackie’s life stories as well. TV was the perfect place.
"Camrose & Kross began selling on a small now defunct TV station in Nashville Tennessee in early 1999 and eventually moved to QVC in 2004. We expected the line to last only two to three years, but due to customer response we have been at QVC for ten years this June 24th. There are no more new pieces to replicate.
"As we end this line after so many years, it is of utter importance to us that we protect those loyal customers that have been collecting Jackie’s jewellery over the years, by making sure no one will ever replicate the same pieces and make them of a lower quality. Therefore we have decided to destroy all the tooling that is used to create the line, so they can never be used again.
"Our last show on QVC UK is this Thursday, and we will offer some of the last pieces of Jackie’s collection to the public. These will be EXTREMELY limited in quantity so I can only hope those that are reading this do not wait around.
"The makers behind the collection, Camrose & Kross, have been around for a long time and will continue in business making high quality jewellery at reasonable prices. I personally am not going to retire and have been working for the last many months researching another very important woman in all our lives. I hope to be on air sometime in early to mid-2015 with a new line of high quality affordable Jewellery on QVC that will bring you a big smile when we publicise her name.
"My sincerest regards and thanks to all our QVC customers that have been so loyal to us, and to those who have sent us photos of themselves wearing Jackie’s jewellery and how beautiful and sophisticated they look.
"With warmth and love,
