As you know the new show ‘DIY Projects with Simon’ is (despite a week off due to the lurgy) well and truly up and running. With a whole year ahead, I went on the hunt for some new and innovative products to bring to you.
When the snow was still on the ground in Feb I met up with Jo, our DIY buyer and Emma, our DIY co-ordinating producer at the Totally DIY trade show in Coventry.
Our task was to search out some new things, new inventions and the great inventors behind them, and see if we could get them on your screens so you could be among the first people, in the world, to try them!
To be honest the show was a bit quiet, with only about five exhibitors there in total, but I think we found a few crackers. There was a great ladder helper, a clever idea for helping you fill rubble bags, a smashing invention to help you drain a radiator (without making a mess) and all manner of new saws and types of glue.
I hope they will get their chance soon but the process can take about 6-8 weeks (we have to do all sorts of checks and quality control tests etc). Hopefully we will see the results of our efforts in spring or earlier summer.
We’re also planning a great new idea for the show, which will be to use a High Definition mini cam called ‘Simon cam’ to get you close to the action and really show the detail of what's going on. The fab camera will make the pictures really sharp and clear, so you can easily follow what we’re doing!
'DIY projects with Simon' is back on 2nd March with a two hour special featuring decorating. So for lots of helpful tips and great tools to get that makeover in your home started, join us at 1pm!
