We have had very few DIY shows over the summer but now autumn is upon us we have great line up over the next few months.
As you know, I love my DIY and am constantly changing things around at home getting my hands dirty (not to mention falling off the odd ladder every now and again!) so I am looking forward to our DIY gifts show at 10am on Sunday 19th October. We have some favourites of mine and some newer things too; one of which I discovered at the Totally Tools DIY show in Coventry many, many months ago.
I met James, the inventor of the Blockblaster, and I instantly knew we had to get them on QVC. It’s a great invention that uses those small CO2 cylinders you used to have for your soda syphons to blast away the blockages from toilets, sinks, baths and drains. He’s going to be on with the Blockblaster Mini which is perfect for sinks and baths etc. He’s only been on once before (when I wasn’t in) and the Blockblaster was very popular.
We also have the very popular CT1 No Gun, which I have to say is constantly in use at home sealing, gluing and filling. It’s great stuff and now we have a pack with both white and black so perfect to get any leaking gutters sorted out before the winter. Tom Shepherd is the guest and he has been working hard behind the scenes, developing a new type of adhesive (which by the way is amazing) so watch this space.
It wouldn’t be DIY without one of the boys from the Langdon European team and they’ll be here with some pretty natty clip-on LED torches. I don’t know what it is but I love a torch – always have! Great one for Christmas gifts… for young and old.
We’ll be outside pressure washing with the great value VAX pressure washer – which depending on the weather can give our director a bit of a headache. The pressure washer guest and I don’t mind being outside if it rains but our cameras are a little less robust and aren’t fond of a shower. However, demonstrating a pressure washer in the studio isn’t easy, we’ll just have to keep our fingers crossed.
One thing that is perfectly timed as we head into the short days and dark evenings, are the Ecozone Biobulbs. These are low energy bulbs that fit into normal light fittings but the they are daylight bulbs. Now that is, in itself, a bit unusual but the real surprise is the difference they can make. There are three reviews on our website and they are all 5 star. Here’s an extract of what they typically say:
“Amazing, they have changed my life. I had purchased the bayonet fitting of this bulb about six months ago and this screw fitting is just as fantastic. Not everyone suffers with serious SAD in the winter, but everyone definitely gets the blues on dark mornings, evenings and gloomy daytimes so this is a real boon. You’ll be in a room with it on and think you should be outside enjoying the sunshine, only to look outside and realise it’s dark and miserable because the light is so natural you forget you’ve got it on! “
Those are just some of the stars of the show. I do hope you can join us on Sunday for some great DIY gifts.
Tune in at 10am on Sunday 19th October for a show full of Practical Present ideas and inspiration.
