DIY comes of age

1

It was DIY on Sunday‘s 21st birthday at the weekend and that makes it the oldest show in town!  I was delighted to be the host for this two hour show as I absolutely love the whole business of DIY (despite falling off the odd ladder!)

I was a bit disappointed that no-one had bought a cake to celebrate such an auspicious occasion (I would have preferred some champagne but at 9am I don’t suppose that was ever gonna happen).  We had a few special anniversary prices but I thought a cake was an essential so nipped across town on Saturday afternoon after my Saturday morning gift show with Jackie, and bought an enormous squishy cake from Costco.

However, on Sunday morning, as I was discussing how we could start the show with my director Christian, an evil and somewhat impish thought entered my head and as Christian has a great sense of humour, the plan went into action.

Now, my director and producer were in on it, as too were all of the backstage staff, but I unfortunately ‘forgot’ to tell any of my guests who were lined up behind me.  You can tell from their faces they didn’t know what to do!  Have a look and you’ll see what I mean…

It’s my turn to buy the team cakes but….. I’ll get someone else to bring it in!

Hi, Simon – my question is not related to this blog but I was ot sure how to ask you directly.

Just seen you today (12/11/14) presenting Xmas lights on QVC and noticed your very jolly Christmas jumper.

Looking to do something a bit different this Christmas for our family gathering and was wondering where you purhcased the jumper please.

Hope you don’t mind the personal question.

    Merry Xmas!
