Elephants and other things

Hi all

So that’s January out of the way which means 2018 is now in full swing! If January wasn’t great for you, I read somewhere that January is the free month (buy 11 get 1 free) and the year begins in February, so that’s good right? Every day is a new day and a great phrase that I use a lot with my children and will be using loads this week for Myles as he has exams, is an old proverb asking “how do you eat an elephant?”

HOW DO YOU EAT AN ELEPHANT?

The answer is of course, one bite at a time. How do you climb a mountain? One step at a time. How do you get through an exam? One question at a time. How do we get through 2018? One month at a time. How do we get through February? One day at a time… we are so busy and have so many demands on us that sometimes the best way forwards is by simplifying matters before they completely overwhelm us and I just love the elephant proverb as it’s the greatest of images!

PS, I hope you like my drawing… maybe don’t answer that!

As spring comes along and the new year unfolds, I always like to have a good clear out and this year I am attempting the wardrobe! It’s not an easy task, definitely a case of how do you climb a mountain! In fact I rather wish I had taken a photograph yesterday as I had turfed out bags, shoes, scarves, more bags, bags of bags, bags of shoes, bags of scarves and dumped them all on the floor with the idea of having a good sort out. I quickly regretted it and poured a glass of wine! However, I have recently been successful when it comes to sorting jewellery and built myself a jewellery hanger (I’ve yet to give it a good name… suggestions please??) I basically took a piece of wood, drilled holes along it, painted it the same colour as my wall and then attached iron hooks with string. Hey presto a pretty effective way of detangling and sorting bracelets and necklaces. It’s ever so user-friendly and I’m a wee bit proud of myself too!

And of course with spring around the corner, it means the days are finally getting longer which means the kids can be turfed off the sofa and outside more… at last!! So whether it’s my hormonal teens or adventurous younger step sons, an absolute must-have is tea tree oil products from Australian Body Care. My two have grown up on it as a permanent fixture. The body wash has been our go to in their bathroom for years and the wipes are perfect for anything from scrapes to… erm, well anything you need to use a wipe for!

So this is half of the Today’s Special Value on Wednesday 7th February, you get two of each which should last you all year. Economically it’s brilliant value but much more importantly, it’s a great way to keep bodies clean and fresh and to be honest, if the Australian tea tree oil that is used in these is good enough for the Australian army, it’s good enough for my young soldiers too!

Look forward to catching up soon

Much love

Pipa
