Earlier this week I received an email from one of our jewellery buyers, Lizi. I assumed it would be some notes for an upcoming jewellery show so imagine my surprise when I opened it up to find this photo.
I wonder how many of you remember, or own, this CD of The Locomotion recorded by the QVC presenters in 1998? Do you recognise the four of us who are still at QVC? We all had to report to the recording studios at around 10pm for an all-night recording session.
Fortunately, Debbie Flint and Rob Locke had strong voices, and a couple of the rest of us could hold a tune, so the end result wasn’t too bad. There is probably a link to it somewhere on the worldwide web if you fancy a listen.
While on the subject of not being recognised, my daughter sent me a picture yesterday that she had slightly ‘doctored’! Lots of you will be familiar with Snapchat filters but did you know you can apply them to people on TV?
She had flicked on to QVC to see if I was working and thought she would have a bit of fun. She wasn’t the only one watching me, it seems. Her cat, Milo, also enjoys a bit of QVC but I’m not sure Flora Mare works on ginger cats – maybe Pampered Pets would be a better choice for him in the future?!
I hope you’ve been enjoying the beautiful spring weather we’ve been having this week? To be honest, I’ve had my head down writing but I did manage to enjoy lunch outside on Wednesday before a trip to the hairdresser’s.
Here’s a funny thing; I decided to have a manicure while I was there and the technician’s name was Sadie. “What’s so funny about that?” I hear you say. Well, it’s not exactly a common name but it is the name of a character in my new book – unfortunately not a very nice character, the one in my book rather than the nail technician who was lovely.
I revealed the cover of my new novel on Monday on the blog on my website www.juliarobertsauthor.com but if you didn’t see it, I thought I would share it on here as well. I hope you like it and the title too. It’s set in the 1970s in the West End of London and features Alice, a dancer from Nottingham. They say you should write about what you know but, thankfully, I never came across a character like Richard!!
It has more of a thriller edge than my previous books although there is a little romance too. Speaking of the Liberty Sands trilogy, one of our lovely models, Cordelia, sent me this snap of her holiday reading. I’m always so chuffed when someone takes the time to read my books.
So, today is St Patrick’s Day and also Ruth Langsford’s birthday, as I found out yesterday when I met her for the first time backstage at QVC. We had a good old chat and it seems she is really enjoying working with us on her Fashion Edit show on Thursday evenings at 9pm.
It’s the last of the current series next week but I’m pretty sure that won’t stop her shopping with us. She told me she had treated herself to two Betty & Co tops on Wednesday and two Isaac Mizrahi denim jackets yesterday! She’s not alone, I ordered the Marla Wynne dress I was wearing on air yesterday. I have more Marla Wynne today in Fashion on Friday at 5pm and do remember, if you’re a fan of our fashion ranges, you can check out the Look of the Week every weekday in our Style channel live shows at 4pm, which I’ll be presenting next Wednesday. If you want a preview of next week’s look, check it out below.
So, it’s Ruth’s birthday today, it was Ali Keenan’s yesterday and Claire Sutton’s 50th is looming. I’m celebrating too this weekend. No, it’s not actually my birthday, that’s not until June, but I am going out tomorrow evening for my promised 60th birthday meal with my friends Denise and Steve – it’s only taken us nine months to co-ordinate our diaries! I think I will take next Thursday’s Tignanello TSV with me for its debut outing – how stylish is this!
That will be after a busy day at work. I’m on with Andrew Bagley and the fab Gatineau TSV tomorrow morning at 11am, then a double helping of fashion with Ronni Nicole at 1pm and Marble at 3pm – sit on your hands, Ruth!!
Then on Sunday I have a two-hour Elemis show with Keeley at 3pm – I can’t remember the last time I spent two hours in her company so I am really looking forward to it! It’s Mother’s Day next weekend so maybe tune in and buy your mum a treat.
Enjoy the warm weather ‘cos apparently there is a cold snap heading our way.
