Discover the ostroroyal topaz stone – new to QVC!

Ostroroyal topaz and diamond gold ringWe are very excited here at QVC to be the first to launch the ostroroyal blue topaz gemstone from Ostro Minerals. The intense blue stone will make its first appearance tomorrow (Thursday 15th November) so be sure to tune it to see this beautiful ring (pictured left) for yourself.

For decades Max Ostro set aside the finest blue topaz he discovered in his relentless search for the most beautiful gemstones in the world. As a tribute to his life and to commemorate the company's 50th year, Ostro Minerals was proud to present ostroblue on QVC and are now delighted to launch their exclusive range of ostroroyal blue topaz. The ostroroyal blue topaz stones are so rare because of the scarcity of the raw gemstone material and the expert cultivation process that brings out their brilliant, intense blue colour.

Emerald-cut ostro topaz

The stones, that are capable of being categorised as ostroblue or ostroroyal gemstones, are extremely rare as less than 1% of the entire deposits of topaz worldwide can qualify to create this unique colour. Both of these unique collections of gemstone represent the most intense blues available in topaz. Although they are equally rare and beautiful, they differ in their colours in that ostroblue has an electric/neon hue and ostroroyal stones are defined by their royal dark blue colour. Each ostroroyal topaz stone is chosen and precisely cut to make the most exquisite stones, all weighing between 5 and 20 carats.

Behind the brand

The Ostro family was a pioneer in the development of blue topaz and instrumental in the exponential growth of the market. The now generalized names for 'London' and 'Swiss' blue topaz have long been associated with Ostro.

Maurice Ostro, Michael Ostro and Jane ChungMax Ostro, the man responsible for this impressive legacy, began his journey in the gemstone industry in the 1960s, representing Mexico in international exhibitions with its renowned opals. Max travelled further and further east constantly in search of gemstones of great colour and beauty.

Today the company is based in London and run by Maurice, Max's son, and Michael, his grandson. Together father and son carry on the legacy of passion for the finest in coloured gemstones. Here (pictured left) you can see Maurice Ostro and Jane Chung, Max's long-term business associate, inspecting one of the topaz gemstones cut by Michael Ostro – it really is a true family business!

Tune in tomorrow (Thursday 15th November) at 1pm and 5pm to find out more about this beautiful gemstone from expert and Director of Ostro Minerals Ltd, Michael Ostro.
