As part of our fantastic online mini mag The Style List we’ve asked the wonderful fashion stylists here at QVC HQ to pick out a selection of their favourite pieces from our current season’s collections. First up is Stephanie Aitken – QGossip met up with her backstage before a show in the QVC wardrobe to find out more about her job and how she came to work at QVC.
(We totally love this Join Clothes jersey maxi by the way…)
“As a fashion stylist at QVC every day is different…
“Predominantly I style the models for live shows, making the items you are buying into styled outfits. Alongside styling for the live shows as a team we work with the designers, guests and presenters making sure we represent them and their collections in the best way. My typical day consists of running around backstage going between studios, the wardrobe, the salon and model changing room…
“… turning items of clothes into outfits that will show viewers how they can wear them and how great they can look. Working in live TV means you have to work quickly and always be ready for last minute changes, so it’s a challenging but fun environment to work in.
(We bumped into Steph on her way into work this morning and she showed us this gorgeous orYANY leather saddle bag)
“My styling career started at university where I studied for a BA Hons degree in Fashion Styling, and then went on to work for QVC. I’ve been here for almost three years. I love being creative and using my fashion knowledge to inspire others to feel great in what they wear!
“My stylist picks are a collection of QVC must-haves that your wardrobe simply shouldn’t be without!
“Pieces such as printed trousers from Nina Leonard are easy to wear and the busy print is great to distract from any bits you might want to cover up. Team with a plain camisole in a neutral colour – this one is from SkinnyTee – plus a statement necklace and a floppy hat for an instant boho chic look.
“This embellished T-shirt comes in four shades: aqua, peach, heather grey and natural. Wear with a pair of neutral-tone trousers and strappy sandals to create a chic summery look that will work perfectly from lunchtime to evening.
“Another favourite of mine is the Yong Kim stripe crinkle tunic I love all things monochrome and this is a real classic. The panel detail at the front will elongate the body and the loose fit makes this top even more flattering. Team this with dark denim jeans and a bright pair of Birkenstocks for an effortless (British!) summer look.
“Finally I love this Parmida printed rucksack from Kipling – the print is really vibrant and fun, and will brighten up a plain summer outfit in an instant.”
We love Steph – thanks for letting us see into your world – and how cute is this sunglasses pouch from Kipling?!
