Six weeks ago a message went out on the QVC bongo drums – does anyone want to lose weight, and would you like to try a new diet that we'll be selling at the end of August?
As our curviest (and that's being kind!) presenter, I thought I'd put up my hand before someone did it for me. And so I became the proud owner of a Diet Chef hamper – all my meals for the next 28 days.
I won't go into the details now as you can hear all about the diet in the Morning Show on Monday at 9am and then again at 11am, but I'm delighted with the results. I lost 10lbs in five weeks and my waist is two inches smaller!
It's a diet that takes all the agony, the planning, the shopping and preparing out of the equation. It takes away any excuse you might use to thwart your success. It removes those moments when you stand at the fridge with the door open, thinking 'What can I eat?'.
All your meals are provided; you just add some fruit and vegetables. The main dishes are delicious and taste home-cooked and really easy to follow. And you don't have to exercise, which can be a real bonus for many people.
Going on Diet Chef doesn't have to take over your life either. Several times when we went out for a meal I just made sensible choices and kept my Diet Chef meal for another day. And when we enjoyed a few days holiday in Scotland I decided to leave the diet at home. I didn't put any weight back on as I had unwittingly re-educated myself as to what and how much to eat.
Still have my goal to hit
So, a 28 day diet spread over five weeks and I'm 10lb lighter. This is only the beginning for me – I admit there's a way to go. I'm hoping that by Christmas I'll be wearing clothes that I've had hidden in the back of my wardrobe for years.
My promise to myself is that when I hit my 50th birthday next March I will be happy and healthy in my weight thanks to Diet Chef.
