Diamonique, BCC and opera on the South Bank

Debbie meets customers at the Diamonique eventThis week…
– Debbie, Diamonique and dozens of DQ divas!
- BCC event – behind the scenes footage and pics!
- Somewhere over the South Bank - a special concert invite
- What the experts thought of my first novel!

Dazzling at the Diamonique event
What a pleasure it was to be the host for last week's Diamonique Day preview event at the Q. Dozens of our lovely doyennes of all things simulated diamond visited our special display and got an early peek at some of the goodies being set up for Tuesday's Diamonique Day.

Debbie drawing the raffleI loved the Today's Special Value earrings and some of the bigger pieces. I got to meet Tom the new guest, who if you missed him on air, was giving us the inside story on upcoming trends – including circles, colours, and long thin earrings over 2cm in length – all very hot in the Far East right now. Hence my order for the earrings! Then our lovely Tanya and Beth helped me and Tom pull the raffle winners.

QVC cakesTan was funny – making her usual impression on people – she can talk for England that girl! Anyone tongue tied was delighted to be entertained by our lovely model! Hi to all the lovely ladies and the occasional gent we met that day, thanks to the girls who made the cakes in the pic – if you know who they are, do add a comment below!

And thanks to everyone for your kind comments about the day – hope you got the jewellery items you wanted on Diamonique Day! I ordered a lovely three-stone ring and the TSV earrings!

Sunrise over Raynes ParkP.S. One other unexpected benefit of being in so early was that my early rise caught a fabulous sunrise over Raynes Park! Courtesy of my mate's top floor view over the rooftops! Cool!

Breast Cancer Care night

The glam phone room teamHowever, I live my life mostly at the other end of the night! Have done so many midnight launches – and some fab products! I just ordered myself the new food mixer from Simon Brown – I love his kitchen shows, it's such fun! Am writing this when about to go back on for the final airing – it may well sell out in the 7pm show, you never know! Well, you probably will know, by the time this goes up on my blog! Everyone was a bit zonked on Thursday though, due to the previous night's wonderful charity event for Breast Cancer Care.

Claudia, Ali and Craig at the BCC nightIt was lovely to see Ali K back at QVC Towers, and so many of our regular guests all dressed up and many answering the phones! Plus my lovely mate Craig enjoyed strutting his stuff and being an auctioneer.

And shortly after their first link, I did a quick video of the backstage buzz, just as  the phones started ringing!

And they didn't stop ringing all night! Till we'd raised nearly half a million pounds – so well done everyone involved! Wish I'd not missed out on a Kipling purple BCC bag but everything was selling so fast! That's it for another year, but the excitement is still pervading around the building!

Singing on the South Bank
Now it's a well-known fact amongst my pals that I love to sing (and you lot too, if you saw the clip a few blogs ago!!). Just had to give you a few more details about the lovely concert I went to at Royal Festival Hall recently – it was a corporate function, where Lesley Garrett sang some of my favourite songs from musicals, and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra played some classical , er, classics! See if you can guess the song she's singing a clip from here –

Rainbow… and which song she was singing when the backdrop looked like this! Answers on the comments section down the bottom of this page, please! Lol.

It was another great night, and still fairly warm, but I'm sure those wintery chills are not too far away now! I've been out a heck of a lot of late, but soon it’ll be time to knuckle down to some serious writing, following an arrival of a very special package in the post last week.

Yes, I finally received the update from the Romantic Novelists' Association new writers' scheme, about my novel. My first romantic story, (for Mills & Boon if you didn't know already!) went down well, and I had some lovely comments from the expert who critiqued it for me. Twelve pages of analysis and recommendations which I'll now use to brush it up before I start submitting it to agents and publishers – including, of course, Mills & Boon! They said it was promising, they liked the characters, the main plot and my 'voice'. Will keep you informed, especially those of you who offered to read an early draft for me!

DO: Here's a little glimpse of what I do on a regular basis – one of the reasons I'm shaping up a bit! Walking for half an hour a day with my poggies in the woods – during the recent heat wave!

WATCH: Another great film newly released on DVD to recommend to you! It's 'Limitless' – the Bradley Cooper 'miracle-pill' tale, asking 'what if you could use ALL of your brain capacity, not just 10%?' I loved this concept. Some of the scenes of him doing just that are very impressive, and he impressed me with his acting skills (not just what he looked like for a change!). 7.75 out of 10, from me – recommended!

Acer laptopQVC: another busy weekend for you – and I'm looking forward immensely to the Liz Earle show I'm doing on Saturday at 9pm – I wonder if the excellent Today's Special Value will be sold out by then? And later that night, the new Acer Computer TSV launch – a top spec laptop, with up to 8 hour battery life! Join me at midnight Saturday (Oct 15th ) if you can!
NEXT WEEK: hopefully that blooper I promised you of an embarrassing moment during a steam press demo! And an update on one of the busiest weeks I've had in a long while including four different dinner dates! A Thea, a Shyama, and two Nigels! Lol. Have a great week.

Your a mad busy busy lady Debsxx A brilliant blog as usual. The DQ event sounds wonderful – i was just saying to Julia, in a blog comment, that QVC’s DQ is so good its so easy to wear daily without the risk of losing a pricey item – love it. I remember in the early days – when we used to call Whatters “Mr Diamonique” – being so excited by the DQ items and the buzz around the first DQ tennis bracelet(Whatters launched it) in 1996 maybe 7 – i’ve still got mine in 14ct gold – its still as lovely today as it was when i bought it.The QVC BCC night was brilliant – as always – but this year a little more special because of Ali K – i’m so proud to be one of Ali’s Armyxx I managed to get a few chrissie pressies sorted and Leighton’s t-shirt and two polishes as well as Kelly H’s t-shirt for myself – sorry – to read you missed out on the Kipling bag(not like youxx). What great news about your novel Debs – it sounds as if the experts liked it(they wouldn’t have taken the time to give you twelve pages of advice if they didnt). After you’ve made the small changes you’ll be on your way to publishing – how exciting – i’ve got a good feeling about this and am willing you on for it to be a successxx Sounds as if the coming week is busy – i hope you enjoy itxx I’ve bought three Liz Earle TSV’s – one for myself and two to split up for chrissie pressies(love the reduced p&p) – i love Liz Earle,Elemis and Decleor skin/body carex i’m currently using – for the first time – the BE night treatment – its really working for me and i didnt expect that because of the skincare i use already but i have and have been proved wrong in thinking 1.It would feel like makeup in bed and 2. It would come of onto my NN White bedding. i’m seriously thinking about trying the rest of the BE skincare range – i’m also thinking about giving Emma Hardie’s range a try – love the sound of the moringa(sp?) cleanser(and a 100ml size!!)- i’ll maybe go for the try me kits for both ranges.i’m really looking forward to the Nails inc TSV day on Monday – i’ve already bought the magnetic polishes from Nails inc website(they are brilliant and QVC have bagged a great price for the set)but i’ve got my eye on a couple of mettalic/shimmer sets. Lovely to speak to you again Debs – look after yourself and enjoy your busy week ahead.

    Hi Debs,
Great blog as ever hon! I just wanted to say thank you to you and to QVC for the fabulous Diamonique preview event that I was lucky enough to be invited to, and to get tickets for as well! I could hardly believe my luck! It was a dream came true for me; to visit QVC, to see the fabulous new range of gorgeous Diamonique jewellery, and the icing on the cake was the chance to meet and chat to you. The event was a perfect end to a perfect day in London! It was lovely to be able to see and try on the jewellery, and great to meet fellow customers – a big thank you to the ladies who baked and provided those delicious cupcakes too! The QVC staff were great and really helpful, Tanya was lovely, and the whole event was a fantastic experience! The goody bags we received were packed with fabulous products – I got my long awaited for QVC mug lol (amongst lots of other stuff and a fab Diamonique necklace!) The whole event was a most wonderful experience, and Debs, it was a delight to meet you :o) Thanks for the chat and the photos too! I’ve got lots of happy memories of our day (and quite a few photos on FB too lol) Thank you again Debbie and QVC!
    Much love
    Caz xxxxxxx

    Hi Debbie,
Sharon from Links Road back again,I haven’t really got the knack of blogging as this is the first time I have ever done it even though I use a computer at work and thought I was computer savy! I was in the same year as you (birth year 1962 – next year the dreaded 50!) At least I think we were the same year and we often played marbles together and skipping, do you remember all the skipping songs back then? – I also played recorder and can proudly say I learnt to read music by playing recorder and xylphone with our music teacher Miss Strutt – do you remember her? I left in 1970 – The school orignally went up to 16 but changed in 1970 so I left to go to Penworthan primary and then to Rosa Bassett Grammar. Lovely to see you on telly! I work in advertising now and with writers, although most of them only write 30″ commercials there are quite a few who have written books too. Do let me know when your book is out to read, I’d love to have a read. I’m looking you up on facebook now so we can hook up and I’ll tell you about mediums you may be intersted in.
    Sharon xx

Sharon – thanks for all this. Do you remember a girl called Tina Stanbridge? or a girl called loretta? Also a boy called David Morgan (older than us!). You’ve got a good memory for the music teacher! I left in nov 69 to go to morden farm as I said, but have some fond memories of that time!
What do you actually do , working with advertising peeps? I would have liked to go into advg after uni but ended up in accountancy. How times change! lol

Hi Debs and thank you honey :o)
I’m loving my pieces of Diamonique – I bought the beautiful Angel Wings necklace and that gorgeous pear shaped ring that you were wearing, and I haven’t taken either of them off yet lol. I’ve had some fab compliments on them, and the pear shaped ring sparkles like mad. I can’t stop looking at it! There are some pictures of our day on my FB page – some are (goes to have a look cos my memory’s rubbish) in an album called London and QVC and some are in my Mobile Uploads.
I’ll see if I can have a go at posting a pic of each of them, and/or that one of us on here…I’m not very technically minded but where theres a will theres a way…If I get stuck I’ll let you know and maybe you can have a go for me from my FB page lol.
Enjoy your weekend hun and speak soon
    Love and sparkles
