The job title 'Beauty Buyer' would send any woman into a frenzy. Sampling on-trend nail polishes, the newest innovation in mascara or discovering luxurious, feminine fragrances on a daily basis, this would be the dream position for any beauty junkie!
We caught up with QVC's senior beauty buyer to find out what her make-up essentials are and what she can't live without…
"When I was asked to write about what’s in my make-up bag I gave a squeal of delight and then asked 'but which one?!' To be honest I have trunks, boxes and bags all over my house full of the latest beauty products I just HAVE to try out.
That said, most girls can’t live without a certain few essentials in their lives and I am much the same. Whether it is that lash-lifting mascara that turns your day look to night or the ‘I have a very important meeting’ lipstick that gives you the confidence you need.
Here's what I have in my make-up bag that I can’t be without…for the moment anyway!
It's all about the eyes…
One of my new favourite brands is Eyeko (pictured left). Mascara is a staple in my make-up bag and Eyeko mascaras really do the job! This really is a mascara range for every occasion.
You can choose between Curvy, Skinny or Fat – not your dress size ladies, the type of brush that you like! My personal preference is ‘fat’ to create that real voluminous look.
Amazing Concealer is also a must. Let’s face it, no-one can be perfect all of the time and Amazing Concealer is the little helping hand we all need.
I just could not live without my Mally lipgloss. As Mally would say, 'It's bullet proof!' Well, I'm not sure about that but it does make my lips look luscious and that's all that matters to me!
Find your signature scent
Coco Chanel once famously said, ‘perfume heralds a woman’s arrival and prolongs her departure’ and I quite agree. The right perfume makes you feel confident and happy.
We all need perfume to make us feel good. With it being winter I tend towards the more musky fragrances and my most recent find is L’Artisan Parfumeur L’Eau d’Ambre (pictured left). It's a warm, oriental fragrance with notes of geranium, vanilla and amber. I decant it into a L’Artisan atomiser so I can spritz whenever I feel like it.
Another staple is Laura Geller Balance-N-Brighten. If I'm going for the fully made-up look I actually use Balance-N-Brighten as a finishing powder over my regular foundation. For a more natural look, I use it on its own. It covers and conceals like a liquid but is so much easier to apply, great for my gym bag.
New additions to QVC beauty
I can’t wait for the new Jane Iredale make-up remover swabs to launch. You simply crack the end and dot the eye to remove any excess eye make-up you have. It's the the perfect portable size!
My make-up bag is also screaming out for the perfect metallic eyeshadow and new brand Ellis Fass has a fantastic product called ‘Lights’ which fits the bill. The cream goes on evenly and gives the eyes a real foiled look. I will be the first to order this from QVC when it launches in May but shhhh, don’t tell anyone!"
