Decorating madness!

Hi again!

Those of you who watch QVC regularly will sometimes have heard me say that I'm glad to get back to work after a few days off – that's definitely the case this week! Why? Because we're decorating!

It all started with our downstairs loo. Just before Christmas we decided that the decor was looking a bit tired and very purple, so inspired by the blue and white packaging of Liz Earle's beauty range, we thought a quick makeover was in order.

Did I say a 'quick makeover'? Down came the cabinet, mirror, wall lights and off came the half-glazed door with floaty curtain. Two weeks later – pale blue walls, bright white tongue and groove panelling, mirrored lights, a mirrored cabinet and new pictures – what a fab look!

The only problem was that we forgot to use proper bathroom paint for the walls. After Sophie had taken several showers (what takes her sooooo long?) we noticed that steam was marking the paper above the shower, so we had to buy some more paint and redo it. That was Saturday and we just kept going…

Julia's games room The next room to be attacked was the children's old play room with its bright blue walls and ceiling – can I just point out that the kids chose the colour! Sunday was dedicated to painting white over the blue, then on Monday we covered it with a coat of lovely pale yellow. Sadly, as it went up on to the wall, the paint looked more like French mustard than the pretty primrose colour on the tin!

Back to the shop for different paint and up till 1.30 in the morning finishing the walls off. It was the turn of the skirting boards on Tuesday – thank goodness my nephew James is over from Australia at the moment and could lend us a hand, though I wish he'd remembered to plug the fridge back in after painting behind it!

Wednesday was spent tackling the architraves and cupboard doors, and the utility room walls on Thursday – this is worse than the Forth Road Bridge! It's paintbrush in hand for the forseeable future…

I'll let you know how we get on!

And thanks to Liz and her colour scheme – don't forget she's got a fab Today's Special Value coming up on Saturday!

Must go now, I've got some gloss paint to finish!

See you soon,
Julia. xx.

Dear Julia my mum and I have been reading your blogs. We think you are as beautiful now as you were then and have two beautiful children. Please could you tell me the make and colour of paint you used in your play room.(Would love to see pictures of other rooms you have decorated). Many Thanks. Marissa.

Hi Marissa and thankyou so much for the compliments both for myself and Danny and Sophie. The paint we used in the games room is Dulux Once in Wild Primrose – I think it’s a really nice colour cos yellow can be very tricky! I am launching the Casio TSV camera tonight midnight so will take some pictures with it and post them with my next blog.

Hi lovely Julia thankyou very much for your reply to my comment. I am very much looking forward to seeing the pictures of your other decorated rooms. I have sent for a sample of the wild primrose and I am particularly interested to know what paint colour you chose for your hallway. Thankyou Julia and all the best to you.

Hello girls! Kamaljit thankyou for the lovely compliments and yes I did get the KVZ animal print bag – did you? It’s bigger than my last KVZ bag but I still manage to fill it! The toe post sandals were from Aldo last summer – I really like them cos they have a big platform making me taller without too high a heel. Maybe they will have something similar this year. Hi Marissa, I haven’t forgotten about posting the pictures of the other decorated rooms, I’ll do it in my next blog. Hope you liked the Wild Primrose? My hallway has a dado rail so it’s 2 colours : Wild Primrose beneath the dado rail and Ivory Cream above it which then continues up the stairs and onto the landing.
    speak soon

    Hi Julia,
I am watching you at the moment on the 6th anniversary show for silver treasures of India (25/07/09), I was just about to text in to ask about the top you are wearing when you mentioned another lady had done the same and that it was not from QVC but one of your own, could you possibly let me know where it is from as you look gorgeous in it and I would love to get one. I love watching any of your shows you are great, keep up the good work. Love Julie West Midlands xxx

Hello Julie, thanks for the lovely compliments. The top I had on in that show was from River Island, but I got it about a year ago so I doubt if they still have them. Sophie got me in to River Island – a bit young for me most of the time but sometimes they have some really good stuff. Hope you’re lucky
