Catherine Huntley prepares her home for Christmas

6

Christmas is coming! Are you ready?

I don’t know many people who get quite as excited as I do when it comes to Christmas! It can be slightly embarrassing. I have been known to squeal with delight upon seeing houses all lit up and I have even found myself singing along to Christmas tunes when they are playing in public places such as shopping centres! Oopsie…

I’ve bought all the presents (except a few last minute ones for my children, as I can’t hold the excitement and can’t resist giving them early if I buy them too soon)! I’ve wrapped them all up using my wonderful gift wrap sets from QVC. The Lindy Bowman bags are just so easy and look great!

I know lots of folk aren’t keen on decorating too early or seeing shops getting ready too soon but, for me, it’s the best time of the year. It makes me think of family, lazily watching Christmas movies, a complete lack of clock-watching, yummy kitchen smells, silly Christmas cracker jokes, party hats and lots of love. Presents are all well and good, but the decorating and preparations are what really get me feeling the magic.

At QVC we always have such wonderful decorations to make a home feel magically festive. I love my flameless pillar candles all year round, and having timers on them means they welcome me home even when no-one’s in. Here I have arranged them with one of our fabulous Bethlehem Lights festive garlands; all I’ve added are a few sweet treats and it’s done! It’s fantastic that there are no trailing wires, as it’s all battery powered.

Wreath on front doorI adore the little trees which look so cute leading up to the front door, and then the perfect finishing touch is a wreath, so homely and welcoming!

I like to burn my Yankee Candle Christmas fragrances whilst I wrap pressies and prepare my home for Christmas. I currently have Snow In Love burning and I’m thinking of burning a Christmas Cookie votive I’ve been saving. Yum!

I’ve had so many wonderful decorations from QVC over the years, including ornaments, colour changing snowflakes which stick to the window and sparkly reindeer to name just a few!

Have you had any great Christmas decorations from QVC?

What have been your favourites?

Also, what’s your favourite Christmas tune? I think mine is Michael Buble’s version of All I Want for Christmas. Ahhh happy days…

I hope you’re enjoying getting ready and that we’ve been able to help you along the way with great gift wrapping, present and decorating ideas.

Lots of love,

Catherine xxx

    Hi Catherine,
Your decorations look very festive. I too love the flameless candles. We have the candles all year round. I love them as a bed-side light and leave them on while I dose off to sleep. I don’t like a dark bedroom.
I hope your renovations are going well. If ever we sell this house I am DEFINATELY not buying another one that needs work! We put our house on the market a few years ago and even had a buyer but unfortunately we could’nt find a suitable property because we wanted something that did not need any work doing to it. We have moved so many times and each time done a lot of work that now we want something easy (especially as we get older). Having health problems makes it difficult these days.
Hopefully we have’nt got much more with our present house. We are having one of the windows replaced in our living room next week so will have to wait to put up our Christmas tree.
All the best, Tina S (S. Wales)

    Hi Karen,

I’m sorry I’m only just replying now! I hope you’ve enjoyed your Christmas. I must admit that the home in the piccies isn’t my permanent home but my home from home until I finish work on mine and move in there!

Lucky for me my friends whose home it is loved me spreading my Christmas sparkle all over and they weren’t even planning to get a tree but surprised me by buying a real one!

I don’t think I’ll ever grow tired of decorating for Christmas. Already can’t wait for the next one, haha!

Happy new year wishes to you,

    Love Catherine x

    Hi Cathy,

I used to be a Cathie when I was younger but as I got older it just became Catherine. Great name!

I hope you and yours had a great time over Christmas.

Wishing you happiness for the year ahead.

    Love Catherine x

    Lovely Tina,

I’m actually understanding exactly why you’d like a house ready to move into at the moment. I’m staying with friends until I finish mine as its been a total gutting and full on renovation job. As I have a limited budget I’m doing lots of the work myself which means its taking longer but can’t wait to get it all done!

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas. I’m wishing you the very best possible health and happiness for 2015.

    Love Catherine x
