Sticks and Sushi
What a lovely night I had with my fabulous son and lovely daughter and their partners, when we belatedly celebrated Brad’s 28th birthday in Wimbledon at Sticks and Sushi. It’s a Danish Sushi restaurant – yes really! Whilst not cheap, it was a great dining experience and Brad loved it, and that’s what matters.
It seems hard to think that in two years’ time I’ll have a thirty-year-old! Where does time go? I must say that every year that’s gone by has been even better than the last, being a mummy to my two amazing kids and they make me very proud and I’m very lucky. Brad allowed himself a ‘little dessert’ – (it reminded me of that sketch in Smack the Pony – ever seen it?) They were tiny but perfectly formed – like Brad’s wife, Kari, who, like my lovely sis, Linda, is only 5 feet tall! Hehe!
After a good chin wag and a catch up, we wended out merry way home again, replete with sesame ice cream after-taste… This Sunday we get together again for Mother’s Day – can’t wait!
Cruising Up the Thames
This week I was also treated to a belated birthday present myself – my lovely mate Sharon and I went up the Thames for an afternoon lunch cruise. I love being on the water – it’s one of my most relaxing places to be. When I’m a grown up, apart from wanting to live in LA and write movies, I’d also like to have a place like Lee Hohbein (our IT guest, who is back on with an iPad Air 2 Retina TSV on Sunday 22nd!) His bachelor pad is like Kevin Kline’s one in A Fish Called Wanda – right on the river and beautiful. We would have passed it as we cruised up the Thames with Citicruises, on a two-hour afternoon meander.
We couldn’t have had better weather, and I love anything to do with being on the river. Do you? I just feel my shoulders go down and the tension drain away. It was an afternoon tea cruise which I nibbled at, (thank goodness for doggy bags!) whilst we sailed from Tower Pier back to the London Eye then back towards Docklands. An ideal choice of gift for me!
It just made me want to go on another holiday abroad on a big cruise ship like the one last July with my mum. Maybe when I get back from my … ahem… long trip, I will. (More news about long trip next week! I hope! Still being confirmed.)
Being Proud #2!
What a lovely post on one of my Facebook groups this week – the girls are really starting to see the weight come off and it makes me so proud that people are getting to grips with Freedom Eating, as mentioned in my Till the Fat Lady Slims 2.0 book (eBook and QVC hardback). Well done Sue and co!
Also – had another fab week of supportive feedback and interaction on my lovely Back to You Facebook group – and we hit 3,000 members! Goodness me how this group has grown! I know our regular guest spot has helped.
And how funny that my Till the Fat Lady Slims group (ties in with my semi autobiographical weight loss book, also available from QVC) included this post from happy camper Denise Large, bless her! Well it’s only healthy eating but we like it!
This week’s Monday ‘Back to you QVC’ group webchat was with the delectable Axel Ruth, hot on the heels of his recent Today’s Special Value. You can read it all on my latest Back to You blog, click here.
Also go here to get your own copy of the hardback of Till the Fat Lady Slims 2.0 – the ‘When’ Diet. And join the Facebook groups – listed below.
Competition! Here it is – my regular competition returns with a biggie for March. An ex-TSV from Liz Earle, the fabulous Instyler, and a recent Mally TSV in ‘light’ foundation option. Just leave me a comment below to be entered into the randomly drawn comp, and out of interest do feel free to add which prize or prizes you particularly like, and why? Closes next Thursday 19th midday, winner announced Friday on next week’s blog, full T&c’s here.
Debbie Does Dinner This week I was so hungry I ate it before I could photograph it! Well, brother and I did. A really fast meal this, took only 35 mins, 25 of which was boiling the barley – a fab combination with capers and lentils, my fave courgettes plus a bit of Halloumi. Serves me right with the Halloumi, though, my body doesn’t like dairy and I got a bit wheezy after eating it. I’d definitely make it again but maybe with Tofu. 8.5 /10. #HelloFresh
Dog Walk Dilemma So mum calls and says ‘fancy a dog walk? Be over in an hour.’ Lovely day, wasn’t it, Saturday? So they turn up, and with them comes The Three Year Old. Now Abi-Grace is full of beans, for sure, but still only three. And had ugly style boots, not wellies. Not even Kari’s size fives, which she keeps here, were any good for little feet, so what did we do – go on a shorter walk? Abandon it? Nope – this –
Turns out I still have ‘piggy back hips’! Nice little shelf to rest legs on! Haha! Not for much longer though, the way the Freedom Eating is going! (click here for more info)
Tennis Ball Tricks! It really works – Glenn Campbell our stylist’s tip to tumble dry your feather and down Centigrade coats with tennis balls – one of my fave short winter white coats was brought up lovely this week, ready for my cruise up the river, courtesy of a couple of balls! Well it’s one use for them, eh? This coat is item number 149543 by the way, if you’d like it – really warm and zip pockets – with 164 five star reviews – a fab purchase, currently on 2x EZ pay!
Antthony was Back! My lovely LA pal, fashionista Antthony, was back on air this week with an incredibly popular Today’s Special Value – it sold out by 7.30am! A little bird tells me it may be back in the Autumn – I’ll keep you informed! Anyway his own outfit did not disappoint – as usual he treated us to his version of yippee-kay-ayy meets Bling! Gotta love this guy! Although I’m told his next phase may well be ‘Miami Vice’ after a recent purchase of an orange blazer! Lol!
This is one of my favourite outfits this visit too – I’m a medium in it, for those who ask! Click here for 105357 top on special pricing, and try out the ‘recommend a size’ website function – it’s fun!
Meece Update For those who asked, the meece problem has gone away – turns out filling holes stops them getting in from the rafters. Wire wool does the trick – apparently! I hope none of the blighters prove me wrong! Lol! And apparently this bristle strip will keep away the rodents from my garage too. Yay! They supposedly use their whiskers to find holes – no holes, no meeces in me garage or house – whoop!
Beautiful Baby Evie Awwww! Look at my little niece Evie – she’s five months old next week – how time flies there, too! Such a lovely smile. And if you want to overdose on ‘cute’ listen to this beautiful little chuckle – altogether… ahhh!

Look what I found in Starbucks Whilst I was waiting for Brad and the gang on Monday evening in Wimbledon, I found this at the till – Christina Courtenay is another fellow Choc Lit author – do watch out for her ‘download of the week’ ‘The Secret Kiss of Darkness’ – fab writer.
Choc Lit Tweet Proud Moment This is the moment when I truly became one of the Choc Lit gang myself – this super innovative UK independent publisher made me puff up with pride when I read their tweet which went live this week – lucky me! Hope you enjoy the book if you read it this time round! Click here for links and info.
Facebook Curio This one is doing the rounds atm – can you see the word? It took me longer than usual I must say (hint – tilt it!)
Facebook Funny – which of these sayings did you constantly hear as a kid? Yes talking of time flying by, do any of these archaic sayings ring a bell? I don’t know, the way our parents and their parents used to keep us petrified of life! Lol! Leave me a comment below if you can think of any more!
Watch! Well I just had to share this one! If you’d like to see a veritable visual feast, click on this video – around the world in 360 degrees – with a selfie stick just like the one we do (505847). This is amazing – how would YOU love to do it? I would!
Sneaky Peek! Next Thursday (19th) at midnight, don’t miss my new Today’s Special Value of a four pack of the clever ‘scanner guard’ cards which help prevent your credit card info being skimmed from inside your bag! Like this twin pack currently available.
