Debbie's career in broadcasting began back in 1984 with Granada television, and since then she's been on a host of programmes, including BBC's Breakfast Time. After joining QVC in 2001, Debbie's become one of the most popular presenters, although she still claims not to have mastered the complexities of the QVC ruler!

Hi Peeps,

We had a lovely half-term down in Cornwall a couple of weeks ago. The weather was incredibly mild and it was great to enjoy that exhilarating feeling of fresh sea air on your face as you walk along the beach.

It's so good to spend time together as a family while we still can. I am wondering how long the girls will want to come with us - they seem to get very sophisticated at far too young an age.

Paul takes his duties as a Dad very seriously and his main focus is always tormenting the life out of the kids. In his view, no teenager should be able to walk in Doc Martin country without seaweed thrust in their face (see below left).

We have just had a new carpet and decorating done in our bedroom so I was delighted to have a sample of Thursday's Damask Throw Today's Special Value to try out as a finishing touch to the room.

I was thinking that although the cream walls and plain Northern Nights sheets looked clean and fresh, I wanted to add a bold colour. So I chose the aubergine Damask Throw and it is really effective. The elegance of the damask cleverly conceals the cosiness of the fleece underneath.

Mind you, it wasn't long before those cheeky Coia sisters had whipped it off the bed and were snuggling up underneath it to watch telly with Molly the cat.

Mmm. At around £20 I can think of a few people who would be pleased to have one for Christmas! And there are matching cushions......

Revealed - person responsible for wild party antics!

Have had a couple of weeks off on holiday but will be back this Friday "Shopping for Shoes" with Glen at 2pm.

So many people have asked me who was behind all the wild behaviour at my party, I thought I would have to name and shame him. His name is Mark Colwill (see the pic on the left). They call it the People's Choice Disco.

And do you know what? It takes special powers to get Julia Roberts to do the splits - twice.

Saturday night - air guitars, a dance-off and more!

I had the most fun I'd had for years on Saturday night. We had friends round for a party with the best Thai food this side of Bangkok from my friend Nicky's restaurant, Thai Tho, in Wimbledon Village. Paul and I were celebrating our 17th wedding anniversary (and my birthday, again!).
 
We danced to all the disco hits of the Seventies and Eighties. The playlist was very cheesy and I take full responsibility for the predominance of Madonna and was given a real air guitar for my performance of Shania Twain's 'Man I feel like a woman' (see photo above). I was in my element and danced so much that my toes went through my fishnets and I ached like an old lady the next day! 

Getting my waist back with Diet Chef!

Is it my imagination or is it about a million times harder to stay in shape once you have had children and get past 30?

When I was in my twenties (see pic taken in 1979) I just seemed to be able to eat whatever I wanted and never put on an ounce.

However, I am into week three of my Diet Chef programme and boy do I feel better already! I have lost 7 lbs and I am really starting to feel better about myself.

My muffin tops are medium-sized chocolate chips rather than the large ones I had before and I have slightly less flubber in my middle-aged spread zone!!!

The porridgey bits are more like Ready Brek. Paul said "Your waist is back", a backhanded compliment if ever there was one!

Reunited with Francesca from Murano Gold

Hi Peeps,

Looking forward to my Murano Gold show at 1pm on Friday - it will be the first time I have seen our guest Francesca Randazzo (left) since we spent a couple of days together in Venice and Murano back in May.

It's a sixth anniversary show so there are bound to be some Anniversary Prices, which are always a bit of a bonus!

Be there or be square! Remember when we used to say that?

Feeling inspired at the BCC Fashion Show

Hi Peeps,

Julian and I had a fantastic afternoon out at the Grosvenor House Hotel for the BCC Fashion Show last Wednesday. We met some of our customers (Isabelle, Layla, Annie, Gwenda, Manju and Anita) had one or two glasses of champagne (hic!), an afternoon tea and enjoyed the spectacular show, which was hosted by Andrea Mclean from Loose Woman.
 
'There wasn't a dry eye in the house'

Singer Beverley Craven performed for us. She herself was diagnosed with breast cancer back in 2005 and was pleased to tell us that she has been clear for almost 5 years.

She was a really beautiful sassy lady with a wicked sense of humour. We heard three numbers including 'Without Me' which she wrote for her daughters when she was feeling low. There wasn't a dry eye in the house. It was extremely moving.

From Ritzy birthday fun to Diet Chef

I feel that things are just calming down now as we are getting into autumn. I had the most fantastic summer and took a lovely holiday in Portugal with Paul and the girls. It seems so long ago now with just the photos to remind me...

 
My birthday celebrations

Well, my goodness, what a super birthday I had when I got back, too! Thank you all so much for your kind words, cards and commiserations - but I have had a ball!

Ali K sent me the most beautiful flowers (right). I also popped up to Coventry for my friend Colette's birthday party. She was also joining the Half Century Club and it was great to see her with her husband Nev and our old college friends Shelagh and Ian. Doesn't Colette look great! Glamorous dining at the Ritz

Paul took me to the Ritz for dinner, which was a real experience. Old fashioned glamour at its best with gold statues, silver cutlery and fine crystal.

While I was waiting for Paul in the bar, eking out my £17 Champagne cocktail, I noticed another woman beside me rescuing her other half who had been refused admission as he wasn't wearing a suit and tie!

They provided a jacket for him and brought her a whole wooden drawer full of cravates to select from. It obviously happens a lot!

We were totally in awe of the dining room, where two waiters wearing tail coats did that very dramatic silver service trick where they remove the silver domes from the dishes with a flourish and the perfect timing of synchronised swimmers to gasps from the diners.

We giggled the whole way through it while at the same time trying to adopt the nonchalant air of a posh wedged-up couple who pop out every night to places like the Ritz.

To be truthful, although we thought we looked like Grace Kelly and Clark Gable, to others we probably seemed more like Cilla Black and Rab C Nesbitt!

What's coming up at QVC this October...

Well, I think you will agree that September was a great month at QVC, but can I warn you that October is going to be even better! There are so many events you will not believe it!
 
Our 16th Birthday
It's hard to believe that QVC is 16-years-old. Happy birthday to us! Do you remember the early days when people thought it was the craziest notion in the world to buy stuff from the telly? Now it's just the norm and today, to cap off a week of Birthday Prices, we're having a day featuring some of our big brands like Butler & Wilson, Thorntons (my fave) and Clogau Gold!
 

Autumn fashion
At this time of year I just do not know what to wear. Will it be warm or freezing? Sun or snow? You just never know in the UK. So I am delighted that it's Fashion Day on the 11th to help with some of those fashion dilemmas. On Monday I was pleased to see our fashion expert Glen Campbell back at QVC Towers looking back to his old self. He's such a smoothie - I love him!

Breast Cancer Care
I am really looking forward to going to the Breast Cancer Care lunch with Julian, ahead of our annual three-hour show on the evening of October 15th.

This is always a really great evening with our suppliers donating lots of goodies for you to buy, with the proceeds going to the Breast Cancer Care charity. That's on from 7pm till 10pm. There are always plenty of tears that evening, some sad and some happy! I hope you will tune in.

My big birthday...

Hi peeps,

Yep, it's that time of year again... the birthday! I'm 50 today which, seeing as though I've been in my extremely late mid-thirties for some time now, is a hard pill to swallow!

I'm thinking that 50 is the new 30 - what do you all think? Have a read of my blog on the subject of age and let me know your thoughts.
