So we ‘re having our Hallowe’en party today (Friday 31st – natch!) right through till 9pm tonight. Just go to the Hocus Pocus 2014 Facebook event – do come join us at some point thru the day – my turn is around midday till 1pm, but I’ll be on much of the day after that!
The grand finale is 8-9 pm, with fun, competitions and lots of banter! I decided to have just two or three pals over to mine this year since last year was a bigger group and whilst it was lovely, there was more chatting in my kitchen than there was online! Not quite the objective! Haha!
Anyway, we all did a little dressing up, making a gesture towards joining in – but not too much – my days of pounding the streets are over! Haha! I remember in the old days my kids would very much enjoy Hallowe’en and all it meant – Lauren especially.
We collected tons of the spooky ornaments and cute devices that move etc, and all the cousins used to come over get dressed up and go out round the streets of Banstead. Hope you all enjoy your evening – or enjoyed it, depending upon when you read this!
Meet the CEO – Selfie Style!
I was thrilled to be invited to a dinner this week to mark the 5th anniversary of many of us working at QVC – for me, it was 5 years BACK at QVC, to add to the initial six from ’94-2000. I had some nice chats, including one with the CEO Dermot Boyd – we reminisced about the early years when Diamonique was ‘nearly launched’ twice before we eventually did it! US standards had more leeway than the UK e.g. 14 carat had to mean ‘at least 14k,’ not ‘almost 14k’ or thereabouts.
High standards even back then!
He also reminded the group that 2009 was the year in which Michael Jackson died and that Twitter was only a year or two old. Our app was just launching too. How times change!
It was nice to chat to some of the people I don’t normally get to talk much to, outside of work, including buyers and admin people. And a good time was had by all!
And this is what we all got! Course, mine’s 11 years at QVC in total, so I tweaked it slightly! Hehe! Thanks to the managers and internal comms team for arranging the evening and here’s to the next five – or eleven!

Eeek! Anyway, first it’s Mr B. again – here’s Charlie’s hilarious ‘victory lap of honour’ last Monday night when he beat Julia’s top score on the TSV Flashpad game!
