Debbie Flint is back in the building… (again)

Debbie when she first appeared on QVC Well what can I say, after nine years and eight months away it's so lovely to return to QVC!

So many of the people are the same, and the skeleton of the building is the same, but it's like someone's moved all the major internal organs around. It’s all much more efficient and modern from what I remember, but wandering round so many memories have come flooding back!

There are lovely new studios, sets and fabulous new technology; hi-tech internal communications, and production processes which all go to make it the smoothest shopping telly machine around, so that what comes out of your screens is as enjoyable and professional as possible.

The products are amazing too. Anyone who remembers me (and if you do, tell me what you remember by leaving a comment below) may recall that I used to be my own best customer and nothing's changed! Skincare in particular and household items, clothes and the technology, wow that's a lot. Having just ordered a new Acer netbook I can see a trend has begun!

I don’t know about you, but I’ve found over the years that some of the products I buy have changed my life somewhat. It sounds cheesy I know, but every so often something comes along which really does make a difference. I’m sure you’ve got some instances of that? Let me know if you have.

For me, one of the biggest changes is how I deal with issues and challenges in my life, the ups and downs, major and minor. A Tony Robbins CD set which I helped to launch on QVC in 1997 led me onto a wealth of information – both psychological (I love all that) and philosophical – including the works of a certain Wayne Dyer.

His work is fabulous; I’ve got loads of his books and audio CDs now. If any of my family and friends ever hear me say ‘give up your need to be right’ or ‘be independent of the good or bad opinion of others’, it came from him. It’s great to have a helping hand from fascinating people and even better to get to meet them! Destiny works in wonderful ways…

I’ll talk more about what I’ve got up to over the years in later blogs, that’s if anyone’s interested. But for now, suffice to say I’m really happy to be back on air and looking forward to hearing your thoughts via this new blog!

One final thought though – we’re all human!

Serves me right for putting pressure on myself during the first week back. In between tons of meetings and outside shoots which have really made me feel welcome and part of the team, my singleton’s life continued – maybe I should have rescheduled! Want to hear more about what happened? Maybe I’ll tell you next week…

I really don’t know if many people will remember me from my six years here previously. It was a long time ago! If you do, hi again, and if you don’t thank you for reading this and hopefully I can fit in to the team smoothly for you.

Working alongside the other ladies and gents on QVC bringing you some of the best bargains around is one of the best jobs I’ve ever had. It’s great to be back and lovely to have your company!

Best wishes and hugs

P.S. Next week you can read about my break in Tuscany for a romantic novel writing course!

    Hi Debbie,
It’s great to see finally back at QVC where you belong. Over the years since you left QVC i have flicked through the channels and seen you presenting on other shopping channels, but always hoping you would come back to QVC.
Do you remember the Kahuna Watches? I certainly remember you selling them on QVC and I bought the green one. They were so incredibly popular back then and used to sell out in double quick time!
Anyway, Welcome back to QVC Debbie and I shall be tuning in to your first show on Saturday!
    Warm Regards

From my viewpoint all I want to see now is to see Lavers back, and my QVC viewing will be perfect. (hope you didn’t fall out with him or we’ll never see him back.

Hi Debbie – looking forward to seeing you present your first shows back where you belong at QVC . I have been a QVC’r for 12 years now so I remember you well. I remember you presenting the Kahuna watches – I bought a couple of them !!! – and doing the fashion sitting at a table with your measuring tape but you will probably be best remembered by me and countless others for your warmth and infectious giggling!!!
As for the qvc products that have changed my life – cooks essentials are the best pots I have ever used in 25+ years of marriage and the feather beds and high thread count northern nights bedding are also fabulous for me and my family.
I also now have a HUGE collection of fantastic jewellery (which started off with a silver diamonique ring )filling my anti-tarnish armoire!!!
I couldn’t be without QVC and it just gets better and better.
Enjoy your new job with QVC- I wish you the very best of luck. Dont be nervous – you are in the company of plenty of old and dear friends – in the studio and sitting at home
    Kind regards, Rachel

Hi Debs. WELCOME BACK! I nearly fell off my chair when i heard you were coming back to QVC. You were my favourite presenter back then when i first started watching QVC. I remember always loving to sit down with you in a Diamonique hour with my phone in my hand ready and waiting to call before everything sold out! I’ll never forget you having a giggling fit on air when you were describing the limited sizes of a particular ring. All the small sizes had gone limited as had the larger sizes. Your words were “the extremities are limited” and then began giggling uncontrollably. It was so funny. It seriously is so lovely to have you back. Good luck xxx

I can remember you were the first presenter to take off all her makeup on QVC, it was a Liz Earle show, but what you may not remember Debbie is a photo of my cat I sent in as I used Eyebright on her,you & Liz showed it on TV, sadly Smudgie died last year 11 days short of her 21st birthday. I can remember you telling us about your kiddies Lauren & Bradly, they must be grown up now. You have a lovely Honora pearls show to start with ( just a shame about the dreadful music) I hope you will be with us for many years,as you have a fun personality and thats what we need these days “Good luck Deb”

Great to have you back Debbie. I’ve watched QVC from the first airing so I did watch you all those years ago. I cannot believe it’s almost 10 years since you left. Scary! One of the things a remember most is your laugh and your relaxed presenting skill. Watching you on Lola Rose as I am writing this and it’s like you’ve never been away. Glad to see you back at the UK’s fav and no.1 shopping channel. As it’s Christmas weekend, Merry Christmas!! Lol.

We did not have QVC long before you left, but the two things that remained in our mind were the incident with the stretch bracelet which broke when you showed us how far it would stretch, and Tutankhamen when you dissolved into a fit of giggles, and made us laugh with you.
Welcome back, and lets hope we have many more laughs with you!

Welcome Back Debbie – it’s great to see you again and you are by far the best presenter EVER (and I’m an expert!) and you make the programme more interesting than just watching someone trying to sell an item. Most presenters eventually fall into a ‘mould’, so I hope you keep your individuality as that to me makes it worth watching! There is obviusly a strict code for the presenters and you can tell as in the end, they present pretty much the same way! That is not a critisism, just an observation. However, without wishing to be cruel, I do switch off with some of them – sorry!

    Hi Debbie
So lovely to see you back on QVC! I wish that you could have been back a month ago because my partner, Terry, used to love watching you on QVC (and the other Shopping Channel). Sadly he died on the 1st October but it would have made his day to have seen you back again.
I do hope that you have not lost that lovely giggle, although QVC is so professional and is enjoyable to watch, it is the odd moment when someone laughs, when things go slightly wrong, that makes the difference from someone just trying to sell me a product rather than making me interested and enthusiastic about buying it.
I was lucky to have had 16 years with my tall, 6’7″, dark and handsome man – even if he had to drool over you whenever you were on TV! So you did have an admirer that fitted the description – regretably though, as I have just found out he wasn’t rich, so I will probably have to curb my spending on QVC to the bare essentials.
So welcome back Debbie, and the very best of luck for the future. I sincerely hope that you will enjoy being there – and the nice thing is that I shall think of my lovely Terry whenever I see you on the screen.
    With kindest regards
    Joy Alexander

    Hi Debs,
Is it really that long since you were on our screens last?
On Saturday night 24th I turned the tv on as I went to make a coffee for the wife and me, when I heard this “giggly ” voice on tv. I had to wait for the presentation to finish and the tv camera return to the presenter, and hey presto it was yourself. As bubbly and lively as before. You would think it was only last week since you were on tv. Nothings changed.
    Welcome back.

    Hi Debs
Firstly have you got a painting in your attic(Dorian Grey style!!) no seriously your looking and sounding great – just as if you never left. I joined QVC a few months after it launched in GB and certainly remember you along with Lavers,Whatters and of course Juliax as well as Jilly and Kara T – i was so sorry when you decided to leave(do you remember your last QVC item was the exercise machine(stepper thingy) and you demonstrated it with your suit on(you took your shoes off) and i think i remember you were holding your goodbye flowers too!! – health and safety went out the window that night) but its really great your backx You’ve already got me parting with my money – Easiyo Greek yogurt and Thornton’s choccies(for Xmas, if they last!!), the three easi-pays are great as you can budget and buy more paid over the three months – love it.My best memory of you was when you used to launch the new year midnight shows – normally the TSV was a CD collection and you used to sing(you had a great voice) – your lovely family were there and it was great entertainment.I also mentioned to Julia(in her blog) how you used to bring your mobile on when you launched a TSV(normally beauty)to make your order – crazy ladyx I hope your home to stay Debs as you have been missed – now we just need to get Lavers(Paul) back and the dream team are complete once again. Are you still as interested in Egypt – the gold cartouche pendants QVC used to sell were lovely.

Much more professional these days but not so heartwarming. I liked the fact that the presenters made little mistakes and were able to laugh at themselves.

Watching the craft show this afternoon I misread a card where the letters weren’t very well placed, and thought it said “You’re Bats”, then you called out “You’re Rats!?” and you’d misread it too, (it was meant to read “You’re a Star”!) :). So great to have you back again Debbie, the old days with you Paul and Whatters were the best,be great if Paul came back too.I still watch Qvc but the warmth and humour has gone, the presenters over the last few years, with the exception of 1 or 2 are pleasant enough but are bland and boring.I’m sure you will bring QVC back to life,it needs it.I use to buy many items every week but I just buy one or two a month now as it’s not enjoyable to watch these days, so I don’t bother much. All the best and hope you will be there for many years to come,I will definitely tune in more often if you are on.

    Hi Debbie,
Welcome home! Great to have you back again, you were very much missed, your Wicked Laugh. I remember the old days too, one of my lasting memories is of you presenting the hobby horse one Christmas, (remember that) you had me in stitches. I watched you on Saturday, wouldn’t have known you had been away.(didn’t realise it had been 9 years though, eek how time flies) still, I hope you’re here to stay this time & I agree with some of the other bloggers it’s a shame Lavers didn’t come back with you (surely he misses his weekly helping of burnt milk Lol) Oh & I read your book by the way, (still looking good girl!) when are you going to write the sequal?
    All the best

I have never seen Debbie before, as I have only been crafting for a couple of years. She is very nice, because she doesn’t interupt the demonstrator all the time like some of the presenters do. But please Debbie, don’t call them HOMEMADE – handmade or hand crafted cards, not HOMEmade!!!!

    Hi Debi
seeing you on QVC has brougt back so many memories for me of happy times, sat watching the christmas shows as a teenager into the early hours of the morning, then not being able to get up for work the following morning. I especially remember the kareoke shows and the infamous Paul Lavers hat that you could throw balls at and they would stick to it. So much has changed since them days, bring back the whole crew for a one of reunion. Good luck in the job

Hi Debbie, I had only been watching QVC for about a year before your left but I certainly remember your unique style! My lasting memory of you on what I think was a jewellery sale show when things were selling so fast you just said ‘I don’t even need to talk for these to sell out’ and, with a big smile on your face, you just held the items which sold out piece after piece. I never did quite figure out whether it was the jewellery or you that made that show such a success!!!

    Welcome Home Debbie!
I am one of the veteran shoppers, right from the launch of QVC and have viewed many presenters.I do indeed remember you; your humour, warmth and product knowledge delivered with honesty.
Selling is indeed an art, but few personalise this and do not compel viewers to buy something for sellings sake…that is the key.I find Alison Young very proficient in this as you are.
    Never change!
I guess, praise must be given to the HR Team at QVCUK- many companies could learn from their decision to take you back!
It appears the companies outstanding guarentees applies to its people!
If staff are not happy with ‘trying out something new’ they will ‘take them back…no quibble!!’ Bless them!
I recall your love of ‘aquamarine!’ Plus, a the dodgy moment with a Foot massager….less said soon mends I guess!
Great to have presenters like you back…makes shopping not only convenient…but fun!
Bye for now, Marilyn [Enfield] 3/11/09

    Hi Debbie,
I did send a comment last week when I heard you was back at qvc, have since seen you doing a show and it’s great to have you back,it would be great to recapture the great old days of Qvc with it’s laughter and warmth. You,Paul Lavers and a few other presenters brought something that has long been gone from QVC.There were so many laughs back in those days and I certainly spent a lot more money! Unfortunately something is lacking now with the presenters, they all seem the same and it does get boring so I don’t watch much.would be fantastic to see Paul Lavers back too.QVC please bring back some of the old faces and make qvc what it use to be,All the best, hope you are there to stay,x

    Hi Debbie
It’s great to see you on screen again. I was genuinely sad when you left, as you were my favourite presenter. I remember your love of all things Egyptian, and you presenting Egyptian jewellery. I also left a job in 2000, after 6 years, but for me I could never go back as I hated it! I sometimes have nightmares that I’ve turned up to work there and they won’t let me out!
It’s clear that you love what you do, and you’re enthusiasm, sense of humour and friendly personality has always showed through.
Good to see you, Kate x

It is really good to have you back, I am also a veteran of QVC 15 plus years. I used to love your dirty laugh and the way you interacted with Paul Lavers and the greatly missed Steve Whatley. You were all really entertaining especially at the run up to Christmas and the New Year shows with the kareoke machine.
    Good luck for the future.

welcome back to qvc, it was really nice seeing you again after all these years, I always watched you on other channels like bid up tv, but then I said to my son, I wish Debbie would return to qvc, then you came back.
I was sad to hear about steve whatley, as he was a fabulous presenter, and paul lavers was another favourite, I hope paul will join qvc very soon, and you both do a show together it would be great.
Good luck for the future Debbie.

like many other commenters here I’m also a qvc veteran. I remember years ago you presented a comic collectibles show with the guy from America (can’t remember his name sorry) but you read out a letter I’d written in about the comics and I was chuffed to bits. Your laugh is infectious and you’re still my husband’s favourite redhead. Great to see you again. Note to QVC – bring back Lavers

Hi Debbie, Sitting here having a cuppa and switching on the tv to see what qvc had on offer I could not believe my ears, looked up to see YOU back. I always enjoyed your shows and your down to earth honesty – I bought a steam cleaner on your say so and you cracked me up when you said it was worth buying if only to defrost the freezer. You always seemed genuine when presenting the products, asking all the right questions as if you were honestly considering buying them for yourself.
Good luck Debbie and QVC don’t let her go away again, she’s one of the best presenters.
