This week – Devon trip for Jubilee weekend; it must be 'fete' – washout for the bank hol bbq's; and end of an era at QVC as I move out of our old home! Plus – a French & Saunders QVC clip for you to enjoy!
Well the Jubilee weekend was a washout mostly, wasn't it? Did you manage to have your celebrations without any rain? Let me know by leaving a comment below if you did! (and go to the P.S. section here if you're new and you would like to find out more about how to leave a comment).
I trekked off to Devon with Daisy Dog (couldn't trust her on her own in the garden with the others for too long and thought I'd try it to see if I liked it! Answer was – I liked having Daisy there and she was good as gold! But I got less writing done!).
It was to see my friend Alix and write my novel – lovely it was – for the first day and half! Then the heavens opened and it was like February over again! Oh well – got lots done, lovely to see my mate, and fab to watch the Jubilee programming – including one of the most emotional shows ever – the Jubilee concert – what was your favourite bit?
I have to admit to shedding a tear at the finale with all the amazing fireworks! And most memorable moment? Those poor singers on top of that RPO barge singing to the Queen in the pouring rain! Who forgot to provide them with a canopy??!!! Send those poor girls some Ojon at once!
It also meant of course that my Wotton estate barbie was a washout! Shame! I popped down to Wotton House fete on Tuesday to see what was going on – and basically it was a lot of wet tables and chairs, wet tents and wet people!
Never mind – am sure everyone had as good a time as possible. Makes me look forward to my trip to LA to see Mr Back-of-My-Tandem on 14th though!…
Whilst I was away with my little Daisy dog for company, my daughter Lauren and her guy Nick bought a new addition to the puppy parade – little Baloo the spaniel puppy. Now isn't this the cutest pic you've ever seen? At one end the Tiffany lamp – at the other – well, spot the real puppy! Bless her! Can't wait to meet her!
French & Saunders 'do' Diamonique!
Well of course it's the end of an era, and all the programming you watch after this blog will be in the new studios! Do take a look and tell me below what are your first thoughts on the new sets!? All your old favourites will be there, guests and products and of course us!
But just to mark the occasion of the end of nineteen years in our Battersea studios, I thought I'd give you a 'blooper' which takes us back to the earlier golden age when QVC was so new it was the target of some of the funniest sketches by celebrities on TV – including this one! Soooo funny! Who do you think they were imitating at the time, everyone? If you have a long memory and are able to recall who was on QVC back then! Hehe! And thanks to Ceri Periam for Facebooking me the link!
EAT - my latest macrobiotic nibbles – coconut and three-nut bites! Thought it'd be nice to take some of my own homemade treats along to the cinema this week – watch out next week for a couple of big screen reviews if I make it there! The treats might not make it that far tho' – they're delicious!
Pack of toasted nuts, brown rice syrup, bit of nori seaweed and dessicated coconut! And I promise next week, some meal recipes! Have lost ten pounds now, since the macrobiotic hol end of April – yes even eating treats like this (only occasionally tho'!) – so all going well!
WATCH - 'Avengers Assemble' – highly recommended! Finally got to the cinema this week, and what a goodie it was! Definitely one of the best of all the superhero movies of the last few years – a good eight and half, if not eight and three quarters, out of ten! LOVED the funnies in it – including hilarious Hulk and super-sexy Iron Man. Worth going for the one-liners alone, but a pretty good plot too. Tell me what you think if you've seen it! And also ' is it worth seeing 'Men In Black 3' at cinema next?
QVC - I'm back on air for my first shows in the new studios over the weekend – including Bose and Laura Geller make-up on Saturday 9th (at 4pm and 6pm), plus the premiere of Aurora Jewellery at 11pm on Sunday 10th – but there's a full programme of launch celebrations and special deals on as well, so don't miss out!
Yes my last moments leaving the old building were a little bit fraught, but thank goodness I had a good pal there (Jonny P who used to work there) to give a helping hand! Packed all the crates but STILL had some stuff I had to take myself! Lol! All done now tho', and I won't be there any more – onwards and upwards as they say!
And as a final goodbye to the Battersea studios – here's a pic Julia showed on air
My first moments on air, a lead crystal Irish coffee glass (!) was at that very desk. What are your early memories of our old sets, or what was your first purchase? Maybe make your first comment below, on this special occasion! Goodbye Battersea, hello Chiswick! Yes, end of an era indeed!
Next week will be all about what's happened in the first few days on air! Make sure you leave me your thoughts below on our new studios!
Anyway, best wishes till next week!
