I didn’t get the whole thing (which is made up of a beef joint, a gammon joint and a rolled turkey breast joint with stuffing, chipolatas and smoked streaky bacon) but opted for the turkey, whilst Julian and Charlie bagged the others!
I got some advice from Jo, who is in charge of our prep kitchen, as to what the best way to cook it is and it sounded too simple: “Just rub with oil and bung in the oven at 200c, uncovered for about 1 hour 15 mins” But, voila, absolute perfection! (I put the sausages in during the last 25 mins and let it rest for about 20mins).
Now, I am bound to have a slightly biased opinion, as I work for QVC, so I asked the family what they thought and I think my son’s comment pretty much summed things up: “Dad, this is the best Sunday roast…ever!!”
We ate heartily and there was plenty of turkey left over which was great as the kids had turkey sandwiches for their packed lunches and I made a very nice curried mayonnaise for some coronation turkey at lunch the next day. And there was still more for some snacking later.
Our Christmas Meat Hamper Today's Special Value will be introduced to you by Julian at Midnight on Monday 15th October and all through the day on Tuesday the 16th and is a great chance to get at least one thing crossed off the list as the rush at Christmas builds up.
The best thing is you know it’s all sorted, but it doesn’t turn up until just before the big “Yo Ho Ho!”
All the best Simon x
