As you know, I like to try and stay in shape by running. A few people have asked if I run all year round and I have always figured, our skin is waterproof so why not? This philosophy was stretched a bit when I was in Norway for a break over Christmas, seeing family.
I took my running shoes with me and my WinterTrax and went out several times to run in the beautiful snow-covered woods near the house of my parents in law. It was -10C at the coldest and -3C at the warmest (which is pretty mild for Norway) with a fresh covering of snow each day.
I really loved the stillness and quiet of a forest covered in snow. Although I had extra traction from my WinterTrax, running in snow is quite hard work, so a run of only half an hour was enough to get a good workout. All the locals thought I was a bit mad as they go cross-country skiing in the winter and save the running for summer! Next time I’m going to borrow some skis and go native!!
