Competition winner, wedding anniversary & jewellery for men?

I went to a star-studded event in Birmingham at the ICC last Saturday night, called the MVSAs. It was packed to the rafters with prestigious actors off the telly – and all hosted by Angie Le Mar and Rudolph Walker (who plays Patrick Trueman in BBC One’s EastEnders). My pal and fellow newsreader Charlene White was there, plus I got chatting to lots of fascinating people, including Krissi Bohn (who played Jenna in Coronation Street), Chizzy Akudolu and Petra Letang (who play Mo and Adele Effanga in Holby City) and many many more. I had a superb night out with my fabulous girlfriends, Debra, Liz, Yvonne & Sandra; we danced the night away at the afterparty at Marco Pierre White’s rooftop bar, and everyone loved my super-sparkly Ronni Nicole dress!

Last week Austen and I celebrated three years of marriage (and incidentally eight years since our very first date) – we nipped away for a couple of nights down to Cheltenham to stay in a fab little boutique hotel called No.131, which happens to be a fave of Jackie Kabler’s too – check it out if you have chance.

As well as doing some retail therapy and eating good food, we took in a little culture. I enjoy listening to a lot of classical music, and this year happens to be 100 years since Gustav Holst started composing the infamous ‘Planets’ Suite. Holst was born in Cheltenham, so we visited his birthplace – a glorious Regency house – to see the piano upon which he crafted this historic piece, as well as a snapshot of Victorian-Edwardian life.

If you know a stylish man in your life, then I might just have found you the perfect Christmas present to satisfy his hankering to being at the forefront of a new men’s fashion trend. My pal Terry is a jewellery designer and he’s linked up with his international male model buddy, the gorgeous James Smith. Together last week they host a star-studded launch of their ultra-chic range of men’s bracelets, TerryTerry4JamesSmith. Liam from One Direction has already been seen sporting them, as well as a whole host of footballers. Here’s a behind-the-scenes video shoot James did for the range:

    Hi Marv,
I just wanted to wish you a belated Happy Anniversary – apologies for the delay. It sounds like you both had a wonderful time in Cheltenham – Holst’s piano is beautiful too.

What a great photo of you and your friends – you look lovely in your dress :).

Thanks for posting the link to the timetochange website on your Twitter feed. I’ve recently met a mother whose 20-something son took his own his life – THANK YOU FOR CARING.
On a much lighter note, my nieces stayed us with last week for one night only – it was over 24 hours of great fun but boy, Ian and I were completely exhausted afterwards. They are such fun and we watched, ‘The Lady and the Tramp’ which they thoroughly enjoyed. Me too :)

    Beth XXX.

Hey Beth, I always consider mental health. The TIME TO TALK website is so important – we all need someone to talk to about things. It’s hard to open up – I know it from experience but we must – because there’s always someone on hand to help.
The Lady and The Tramp is such an amazing film – they don’t make them like that anymore. Bet it was superb to see them??? xxx

    Hi Marv,
It was fantastic having the girls to stay – they are such characters. It was their first sleepover here and I was so excited beforehand. I would have them stay over every weekend if I could :) TAKE CARE xx.
