New Year break in France

Hi everyone, Happy New year,

Christmas was exceptional this year with everything nice and organised. Although, I don’t know quite how I managed it as the run up to it was pretty hectic. 

We spent New Year in Chamonix in France which was wonderful. There was plenty of snow, in fact it snowed more or less for the entire week. Arriving home we found snow again and a big fat anonymous snowman on our drive!!!

I need to tell you about a funny incidence whilst I was away. I was waiting in the queue at the airport minding my own business when a lady tapped me on the shoulder and said, ‘Excuse me but I think you dropped this’ and gave me a receipt. I said thanks and put it in my pocket.

Anyway, she said how cold it was and that I looked warm and cosy and she really must get herself a nice warm coat (I was wearing my cosy Dennis Basso). We basically had a nice normal sort of chat (small talk). She was a nice lady from Manchester and obviously very friendly and I just assumed she was being chatty to pass the time in the queue. We said our goodbyes and I didn’t think anything more of it.

Then I was ordering a cup of tea in the departure lounge when a man stood next to me at the counter and leant over and said quietly, ‘You really made my wife's day you know. She watches you all the time on QVC, you’re her favourite presenter and she’s just so excited to have met you.’ 

Well I couldn’t believe it. I thought it was so funny as not at any time did his wife make it clear she knew who I was. Although, when I thought about it she had mentioned my coat.

I wished him and his wife (who wasn’t anywhere to be seen by this time) a Merry Christmas and continued on my way. The funniest part of the story was that on the plane I was sorting my pockets out when I came across the receipt I’d supposed to have dropped. It was for petrol at a station in Manchester - very clever!!!
