My mummy’s birthday

A young Claire with her family I had the most wonderful experience last week and thought I'd share it with you.

It was my mummy's birthday and she came to stay, bringing with her a special present from my brother Neil. Neil had taken a small piece of cine footage and had it converted onto DVD!

It dated back from… well, let's just say we worked out I was 6, Neil was 8 and my eldest brother Mark was 10. So a little while ago!

It was fabulous to see my mummy younger then than I am now, flirting outrageously with the camera and looking amazing in a bikini.

Plus, the utter joy of seeing my Daddy 'come to life' was incredible. He died when I was 13-years-old so it was emotional but incredible! To see his moving image, his face, mouth and eyes so like mine, and to be able to share him with my own children was so very, very special.

We can't wait to transfer all the other footage. I just wish there was sound, but hey, you can't always have it all. I was just grateful to have that!

I'll be in touch soon.

Love Claire

What a lovely story. I am so pleased that your Mummy’s birthday was so special. This year my own Mum had some old cine films converted to dvd from her and my Dad’s wedding day (46 years ago) and my brother’s christening (45 years ago). We have so many more yet tbe converted. Memories are so precious and although some come with sadness the overwhelming feelings are of joy.
    Love Caroline xx

I would just like to say that i have just read about your dad being “brought to life” on film, and it made me cry! It sounded so lovely and from the heart. My dad died 12 years ago now but i still dont think i could watch him on film. It would upset me to much. xx

Claire Sutton: My holiday essentials

Claire Sutton Hello everyone, Claire here!

HOORAY FOR SUNSHINE! I’ve just got back from my first family holiday abroad and thought I’d catch up with you.

I never go on holiday without…
Because we went abroad this year I took high SPF sun cream, hats, sunglasses, games and colouring stuff… how I wished for an Archos to keep me entertained! Oh and I couldn’t leave without a medical kit… not that it did much good as my son Joe ran into a glass wall and had to go to hospital within half an hour of landing! Thankfully he was ok and still enjoyed the holiday.

Clothes-wise, I always take a sarong – essential for covering up – and a pashmina for the evenings. My favourite trend this summer is the maxi dress. I LOVE them! Oh and I always look out for little strapless tops as I can’t stand getting strap marks.

I always pack a book as I love reading on holiday. But my hubby Dan hates me taking them as I get totally absorbed in the story and can’t put them down! However, this time I had to keep the children happy so I’ve only just finished it.

Holiday preparation
Before I leave I exfoliate like mad! I love using the new body range from Gatineau and Elemis Papaya Enzyme Peel included in the Elemis Get Set For Summer Collection. I slather on tan accelerator twice a day, it really makes a difference. Painting my toes is a must before hitting the beach. I love Nails Inc, they have some fab summer colours at the mo.

Also conditioner conditioner conditioner…I love Louise Galvin Sacred Locks Treatment Masque for Fine Hair and even popped Philip Kingsley Elasticizer on my daughter Maddie’s hair too!! The sun’s great at brightening colour but mine needs lots of TLC in the sun.

I hope you’re enjoying the summer despite the rain we’ve been having!

Love Claire x
