Thank you so much for all the Christmas cards you have been sending in to QVC, it really is appreciated, particularly at such a busy time of year for everybody – I’ll put some pictures of them up on here next week. Thanks also to those of you who have sent in gifts. I won’t open most of them until Christmas morning but I have opened one as I guessed what it was. Christine messaged me on Facebook and asked if I would like a hand made bauble with the word ‘believe’ written on it and a white feather inside it. Those of you who have read my books know that I am a ‘believer’ in white feathers so of course I said yes – thank you Christine, so very thoughtful.
I still haven’t written my Christmas cards so need to make a start this weekend. I bought my cards from Bloodwise (formerly known as Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research) this year to help raise money for them to add to the money raised with my first novel. It is ongoing that a percentage of the sales of ‘Life’s a Beach and Then…’ will go to Bloodwise, but I did a little tot up the other day and so far you have helped me raise over £1000 from sales of the book. Signed copies are still available on the QVC website, 705211, as they ordered a few more to satisfy any Christmas demand. Thanks so much to those of you who have left a review – there are now thirteen five star reviews and you have made some heart-warming comments for which I’m truly grateful.
I may not have written any Christmas cards yet or put any decorations up inside the house but outside is now looking festive. I retrieved my Bethlehem Lights hanging basket and wreath from their storage in the shed and also wound lights around the small leylandii trees in pots on either side of the front door. The cafe style lights are draped over a bush for a bit of colour and we put more coloured lights over the arch in the back garden that we can see from the kitchen. I planted some cyclamen in Rudolph the Reindeer and his friend the penguin and also treated myself to a new Christmas cactus plant after someone, who shall remain nameless but I think you know his name, killed my old one off through over watering!
We won’t be putting up any indoor decorations until we get the Christmas tree. We always have a real tree so that won’t be for another week to prevent it dropping. We did however put Daniel’s little tree up when we visited Swansea last weekend. He loves Christmas but he probably wouldn’t have bothered with his tree unless I’d suggested it because he will be back with us over the festive period. In the end all of us went down for my little book event last Sunday at Morgan’s.Thank you to the people who came to say hello, I was made to feel very welcome. I don’t want to talk too much about books on here, you can check www.juliarobertsbooks.co.uk for more information if you would like, but I thought you may be interested in seeing the interview I did for Chiswick Buzz with our lovely QVC guest Lorna Ko.
Because Sophie had come with us to Swansea, we had to drive back late on Sunday night as she was working on Monday. That meant we missed seeing Vicky crowned as queen of the jungle. I’m so pleased it was her – she really deserved it in my opinion. I also agree with the final three for the X Factor final. I know Reggie & Bollie weren’t the best vocalists in the show but they are very entertaining – I think Louisa should win, although I love Che’s voice! I wasn’t so pleased with the bottom two of Strictly last Saturday. Georgia and Helen!? Really? I think two people had a very lucky escape last week. Jay or Georgia to win – both beautiful to watch. It’s funny how much more TV I see now that I don’t really do evenings on QVC anymore because of my medication.
One final mention of telly – my team were again in action on SKY’s Monday Night Football. They were playing Everton and in the end a draw was possibly a fair result. It might have been different if the real Wilfie (Wilfred Zaha) had been eligible to play – our Wilfie (the cat) did his best to help out although when he started chasing the ball on the screen of our new Samsung curved TV we had to give him a red card to prevent him scratching it.
So this Sunday we have our final Beauty Day of the year. The brand selected for the Today’s Special Value offer is bareMinerals who also have the Beauty Product of the Month. I don’t normally use Mineral Veil but this new one (the POM) is fab and terrific value with three times the normal quantity and comes with free P&P. Not only that but beautifully boxed, so perfect as a gift. Check out the Beauty Channel for SJ’s tips on how to get the best from it. I’m with the girls at 2pm on Sunday afternoon, then I have Gatineau at 4pm and Molton Brown at 6pm.
I also have a beauty show at 3pm on Saturday. Keeley is over from Cyprus for her final Elemis shows of the year – I’m so pleased to be working with her and hope you can join us.
On Monday we have a Lulu Guiness TSV – it is already showing on our website if you wanted to order early. I spotted it whilst buying something for Sophie – I can’t say what in case she reads this and then it would spoil the surprise! I have also ordered Daniel’s present. He knows what it is as I had to run the spec by him. It’s a new Acer laptop that Lee Hobein tipped me off about. It’s launching on air tomorrow and is available in grey or white ( item number 507303) and in two screen sizes. I feel like I’m getting there with my Christmas shopping but haven’t ticked off ‘him indoors’ yet.
Well I must dash – Fashion on Friday is back today at 5pm with Marble and hopefully I’ll also see you at 7pm for a show that is meant to include our Skechers TSV, if it hasn’t sold out by then.
Have a good weekend
PS Just for fun and to get you in a Christmassy mood, what is your elf name?
