Christmas is here and of course 2015 is just around the corner too!
It has been, what feels like, the busiest year to date at QVC.
Thanks so much for being with us over the last 12 months and a very warm welcome to you if you have recently joined us as well.
I was thrilled to learn that in November alone, around 31,000 people shopped with QVC for the very first time!
I really am very proud to work here. If I’m honest, when I first joined in January 2000 I remember saying to myself, “I’ll probably be here for a year to 18 months or so before I move on”. Well, I couldn’t have been more wrong and I’m so pleased I was.
It’s one of the most challenging presenter roles I’ve ever undertaken, and continues to be, but that’s what makes it so appealing. Then there are the various teams I have the pleasure of spending time with who make it a joy to come to work each day.
However, what I’m especially proud to represent, above everything else, is you our fabulous viewer. Quite simply, without you we wouldn’t be here and I never lose sight of that. Thank you.
For me, QVC goes way beyond the fabulous products we source. I often talk about our customer care, our multi award winning UK-based call centre and the superb team of buyers who do their utmost to secure as good an offer as possible. They’re an amazingly dedicated team.
When I was offered the role all those years ago, I remember making it very clear to my then manager that I’d never sold a thing in my life (other than help Mum at a car boot sale!) Bob then said to me, ‘Charlie, we want to work with you as a presenter, we really like the way you described and explained the product in your audition…’
So here I am, all these years later, still loving the role as QVC presenter. The last 15 years have flown by; I struggle to look too far into the future… another 15 maybe?!
I know I speak on behalf of everyone here at QVC when I wish you a wonderful and happy Christmas and New Year. I hope you’re able to enjoy some great TV, food, drink and of course, board games! I love Pictionary… and Scrabble… and Monopoly… oh the list goes on!
On another note, I’d also like to send my thoughts and warmest regards to those who find Christmas and the New Year a particularly difficult time of year. For many it can be a real challenge through perhaps the loss of a loved one or being alone. I can only try to imagine how hard it can be. Thinking of you.
I thought I’d round off this weeks blog with a festive photo of my two adorable Cairn Terriers! I simply cherish them and no doubt, this Christmas time, they’ll be getting their fair share of Turkey… but the mince pies, well, they’re all mine!
Do take care and I’ll see you soon.
