Isn’t autumn the most beautiful time of year? I can’t get enough of the wonderful colours there are and my family and I have had a great time kicking up leaves. We went to visit Hampton Court which is one of my favourite places to see the best of autumn. I grew up in Hampton so I love seeing my little girls playing there too. The colours were out of this world and we got some great pictures to update the picture frames at home.
I’ve been feeling really festive this past week, partly because my friend Anna and I got to announce the Dreamtoys Top 12 toys for Christmas exclusively for Channel Mum. This is the second year in a row we have done it and it’s such a fun event! We get to see which toys will be on all the kids wish lists and more to the point, we get to play with them without any kids around!! It’s so much fun and always has us in stitches with games like the one that splats you in the face with foam.
I’m well and truly in a Christmas frame of mind, so I’m thinking ahead to what we will be having on Christmas Day. We will be at my mum and dad’s this year and my mum always goes to town. The thing I love about this season is that all rules of treats go out the window. Granted it’s not great for the waistline but who cares? I’ll be wearing lots of chunky jumpers anyway!!
Since I was a kid there would always be bowls of sweets out to have whenever you wanted without anyone to tell you no. Toffees, chocolates and biscuits on tap. So I’ve picked the treats from QVC that I will be sticking on my shopping list.
Monty Bojangles chocolate truffles which are divine, Joe & Seph’s amazing popcorn with sweet and savoury flavours – you have to try the cheese flavours, they’re my favourite and Churchill’s shortbreads in the gorgeous carousel tins. Christmas isn’t Christmas without shortbread in my opinion.
For the dinner, it’s got to be the full works, from bacon and sausages on Christmas morning to the full turkey and ham for the main event. The 5.3kg British Meat Festive selection from Green Seasons even includes a topside of beef which I’ve cooked once myself and was really gorgeous!! It’s brilliant value and the quality of meat is excellent. No queuing at the supermarket or butcher for this one!
When it comes to the dining table, this is something that my mum likes to do herself. It’s her ritual to lay the table and make it beautiful. I was thinking that a new festive arrangement would be a nice treat for her this year and I have earmarked a few lovely pieces from Peony that would be perfect. Either the Christmas amaryllis wreath that would be stunning with church candles in the middle of it or the red roses and holly in a mirrored cube vase, one for each end of the table.
I could go on and on about food but it would be ten pages long, I haven’t even mentioned booze yet!! I have to move on though because I need to announce the winner of my very first giveaway here at QVC.
We had over 1700 entries for the gorgeous Fiorelli handbag, which I was blown away by. Doing a giveaway is like having a party and wondering if anyone will turn up! Well I’m so happy to tell you that the winner is Amanda Greensmith from Hampshire. Congratulations to her and thank you to everyone who entered. I hope I can bring you more giveaways in the future.
One thing I want to draw your attention to before I go is something I personally really like. We have some fantastic stylists at QVC and they combine some fabulous looks with lots of different brands. Sometimes that’s just what I need to get a perfect look, as quite frankly I don’t have the time to do it myself!
So to have a ‘Look of the Week’ that’s already done with all the info, prices and links is just what I need.
Up until now it’s just been on the Style Channel but it’s been really popular so you can keep an eye out for it on the main channel too.
That’s it from me this week, I would love to know what you’ll be eating over Christmas and what your family traditions are so drop me a line in the comments.
Love from Katy x
