I just wanted to catch you up on the very busy weeks since my last QVC visit. In NYC, I was involved with Fashion Week which was moved to the Lincoln Center, but also took place uptown and downtown so I found myself running all over Manhattan.
I was kept busy dressing the celebs and socialities attending, as well as placing my accessories in various fashion shows.
A fairly new group of shows were promoting green/eco-friendly fashion. My team was involved with these events as well, since this is important to us, especially regarding our own product range. We also contributed to the first ever NY plus-size fashion show, which was packed with celebrities and press and very exciting!
A Tea Party, the Emmys and more
After that I was invited to the Los Angeles BAFTA Tea Party. There were dozens of celebrities from the UK and Hollywood enjoying a wonderful sunny day in Beverly Hills.
I styled numerous actresses with my fine jewellery and Diamonique collections, and loaned out many unique clutches from my new range. I spent the day with Nigel Lythgoe, Glenn Close and dozens of actors from both sides of the pond.
We've learnt to have a back-up plan ready just in case the dress colour changes from yellow to purple at the last minute. That happened four times over the weekend of parties – but thankfully we were ready!
The next day I went back to LA and assisted Eva Longoria with her charity 'Padres Contra el Cancer' – a fundraising event to help children afflicted with cancer. Eva carried my black snake embossed clutch and had an array of sophisticated jewellery on.
George Lopez, a famous comedian, was being honoured and pulled out his Charlie Lapson wallet when he saw me. There were so many of my clients and friends who attended including Felicity Huffman of Desperate Housewives and Eva La Rue of CSI Miami.
Since October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, I asked some of the ladies I work with to donate and sign handbags they own from my collection. We auction them to raise money for Breast Cancer Care in the UK and Susan G Komen for The Cure in the US. This year we had handbags signed by the Desperate Housewives, UK presenter Holly Willoughby, Joan Collins, the Kardashians, Jennifer Lopez and more.
I took a bit of a break on the weekend and enjoyed being back in LA, especially during the fantastic weather. My friends and I had a dinner party, which was really relaxing, although I cooked for 12 people! I often find that preparing a meal is a great way for me to be creative and unwind for a few hours. After dinner, I mixed up a nice margarita and we found ourselves dancing all night!
During that week we had some of the cast from the hot television comedy, Cougar Town, come to our studio to choose accessories. They loved the big bold jewellery, some of which will be featured in my Diamonique shows. You can see some on Cougar Town, and the ladies also borrowed them for their upcoming social engagements.
Eva Longoria's charity event
Last weekend Eva Longoria hosted another big charity event called Rally For Kids With Cancer in Los Angeles. I've been supporting her and the group for several years now and all the money raised goes to Children's Hospital.
Many stars came out to support the event and the great cause, and my auction items were a huge success. This luxury auction prize included a clutch, a handbag, a wallet for him and a purse for her, and watches from my 2011 range.
The live auction heated up and the bids were getting very high until finally Gene Simmons from the music group Kiss bought my package for his wife, Shannon Tweed, for a final bid of $40,000. That was cause for celebration!
Now I've just arrived in England. I'm spending a few days in Liverpool for meetings and some sightseeing, then going to Manchester for some press interviews, and then on to my shows in London on QVC. It's my anniversary!Four years of bringing Hollywood accessories and Diamonique to my lovely ladies in the UK.
Thank you all for allowing me to share my designs with you. You truly are my stars! I hope you'll write to me or call in during my shows on Monday 1st November (10am, 2pm and 8pm).
With my warmest regards,
Tune in to Charlie's anniversary shows on Monday 1st November at 10am, 2pm and 8pm
