I've been busy with so many exciting events lately – flying around between New York, Los Angeles, Miami and Las Vegas for fashion shows, styling celebrities, making appearances at shows for stores and select customers, and creating my new collections.
Recently I went to Washington D.C. with celebrity friends to meet with President Obama and members of the government to discuss the role of Art in society. I was fortunate to be chosen to represent the Fashion Designers in the USA. It was part of the White House Correspondents Dinner where I, along with Jessica Alba, Alec Baldwin, Kristen Davis, Dana Delaney, Michael Douglas and others were in DC to celebrate.
I've also been to Las Vegas for the JCK jewellery fair…one of the largest exhibitions of jewels in the world. I presented my new collection for 2011 and during my visit, I got to say 'Hi' to Cher as she is doing her show there. My friend Doriana is the director and thought Cher would like earrings of blue sapphire for an event that week.
In addition to all that I've been getting some new items to the Desperate Housewives for their real lives. I had made rings in beautiful shades of orange with pendants and earrings to match.
We've been working with emeralds in jewellery a lot lately and it seems to be a favourite colour for Eva Longoria. I made a co-ordinating clutch evening bag in emerald green with a beautiful metal frame and studs to accent it. I'm so excited about the new style!
In Miami, during the World Music Conference the ladies loved the new stack rings. Multiple rings on one finger…either attached or separate; this is one of the hottest looks for the upcoming season.
I've taken the idea of mixing and matching shapes from the Art Deco district in South Beach. I was inspired by the architecture and the intricate details of the buildings. The combination of circles and squares played well together, and then with the colour of the ocean in the morning being a stunning blue, I put it all together and came up with a concept for a ring design…then as the bright Miami sun set with a fantastic orange glow, I thought that colour would be beautiful for this style as well.
In Los Angeles I've been busy styling Natalie Cole, Paula Abdul and Sofia Milos of CSI Miami for lots of red carpet events. There's always something happening in Hollywood.
I'm excited about presenting my new Diamonique collection on QVC. There are many new items that are eye-catching and we've also brought back several items that my lovely ladies have asked for, now in glamorous new colours.
Have a happy summer,
