Well, I’d better explain the headline! I’m writing this week’s blog, not quite from my sickbed, but from the most comfortable position I can find. I’ve been suffering with serious back pain over the last week or so. In fact I’ve had to take a few days leave and I’d like to say a huge thank you to my fellow presenters for covering my hours!
I have an old injury which comes back to taunt me every now and then and this time it returned with added interest! The problem lies just inside of my right shoulder blade and is linked to one of my ribs. Wow it hurts and the knock-on effect to my neck and arm has been excruciating at times.
Thankfully I have a fantastic osteopath who has come to the rescue (again!) and medication too. In fact, if you were to shake me I’d probably rattle! But don’t shake me just yet as it really hurts! I couldn’t even lie down the last few nights so was having to sleep sitting up.
So, to while away the hours while sitting here I’ve been reading a spot of Jack Reacher and have just caught Kathy on air with the Marble fashion (a show I was supposed to present later in the day!)
I’m missing my tennis but really, really miss taking our dogs for their walks. On a positive note though I am seeing more of my family and we’ve discovered a new card game called rat-a-tat-tat! It’s a brilliant game and easy to understand, but to write the rules in my blog would take an age!
Having had this pain for the last week or so is a stark reminder of the great respect and compassion I have for my Dad who endures chronic back pain every single day. I’ll be over this in a few days but Dad has this for the rest of his life and this little episode has reminded me just how difficult the days and nights can be for him.
I think I’ll pop a treat in the post to Dad this week!
I’ll hopefully be back on air Tuesday 29th September at 12midnight with our H2O X5 Steam Cleaner, Today’s Special Value.
So, back-permitting, I’ll hopefully see you on air very soon!
Take care and in the meantime…. another chapter of Jack Reacher!
