Family Fun 1
On Sunday morning I was very busy, I went to see my mum, with my two nieces, after popping round to my nephew to see his new baby and new house. Then my sister, also in this photograph came for a walk with me in Banstead Woods with the girls.
Family Fun 2
Then went off for a coffee and chat with the gang – we don’t do things by halves, us Flints! We practically filled the back of the Costa in Banstead! Lol! But Evie came too…
Family Fun 3 – Youngest Niece
Looks like little Evie will now always be the youngest niece – youngest of my mum’s 16 grandchildren. True, I have great nieces, three of them and a great nephew – mum’s progeny are expanding in number! Anyway Evie loves books. So I spent lots of time with my family last week, and little three year old Evie enjoyed a late Christmas present – one of those books where they put the child’s name on it – on the outside and all the way through it! She couldn’t believe it. She also loves the hungry little caterpillar book as well. My children loved the Big Bear, Little Bear books. I’d love to read them to my little grandchildren, when they eventually come along! Did your kids have a favourite? There’s no substitute for sitting reading with a youngster, I think. I read all the Narnia books to my kid brother Glenn when he was a child, using all the voices. He still recalls it fondly now. Magic times.
My wife just stopped and said, “You weren’t even listening were you?”
I thought… that’s a pretty weird way to start a conversation?
This joke was posted on Facebook by my brother, but I won’t say which one, in case it gets him in trouble! Funny though ha, ha!
Q-Team Tweet of the Week
Last week this tickled me, and what great captions where suggested. However Pipa won in my eyes, with this one – ‘you’re supposed to suck, not blow down it!’ Lol. I think a poorly Fiona was trying to play a tune, when Ali Young, our beauty expert, gave her this teapot with some boiling water in it to breathe in the steam and ease her poor chest. Hope, if you’ve had the dreaded lurgy, you get better soon too.
Follow me and enter the competition!
By the way talking of Twitter, don’t forget I have a brand-new handle, it’s @debbieflintQVC
Crazy Catherine cracks my Caudalie!
Crazy Catherine strikes again! Look what she did this time. We are still laughing about the time she put both legs into one side of her jumpsuit! Well this time it was all about the armholes on a cold shoulder outfit, behind-the-scenes in our presenters lounge last week, ha, ha. I must say I had tears in my eyes, can you see the drip of a tear a rolling down my face, a bit like a clown ha, ha. Well it certainly mucked up my face mask. It’s the Caudalie Instant Detox one, which really tightens solid on your face and brightens up the look of your complexion immediately afterwards. I was trying not to make it crack, but as you can see, thanks to Catherine, I did not succeed! Go here to see the Caudalie range
Book of the Week blog this week on my website is all about the brilliant second novel from Joanna Cannon – author of ‘The Trouble with Goats and Sheep.’ It’s called ‘All about Elsie’ and her delightful turn of phrase thrills readers, including me, as she describes lovingly an older lady’s secret from her past. Very accomplished writing and sure to be another bestseller from one of my former writing workshop colleagues! It’s just been chosen for Simon Mayo’s book club on Radio 2 too. Very proud of her. And of AJ Pearce, whose book ‘Dear Mrs Bird’ (last week’s review) has gained her a place in the annual Guardian New Faces of Fiction 2018 report, just out! Google it and see her there – superb!
Vlog of the Week
Wow talk about Poldark Weather! This week I posted a video on Facebook which was some of the wildest landscape and weather I’ve seen down in Devon. Go here to see the post on Facebook and don’t forget to enter the competition! And I always do a question of the day – if you have a reply for me to the question in this video, post a comment below with your experience! And don’t forget to ‘like’ the page to see all my updates in future. I was down there to hook up with my old mate Russell Bristow and his other half Mark, and we had a lovely afternoon tea and chat at their place in Bideford, then went off to Hartland and finished up having dinner in Westward Ho in the Pier restaurant – superb Scampi! I love these guys and we had lots of laughs.
We were pretty windblown though – what a gale – it was howling! Here’s the pic, but here’s the video – which gives you a better idea! In case you don’t get to see the Facebook vid.
And here is the Bissell range which Russ guests on QVC – including fab carpet washers if you need one for your spring cleaning! One day when the weather’s better they’ll take me to Clovelly – with one of the steepest streets in Britain, a la Hovis! Looking forward to a lovely year of seeing Devon sights…
The amazing Darkest Hour
OMG – what a superb film this one is! I love to catch each week’s big releases if I can, and this pleased me no end, since it’s a perfect period timepiece, capturing the mood of the time, the fashions, scenes, language and historical events I never realised happened. What if Halifax HAD become Prime Minister instead of Churchill?? I love this adaptation and will definitely see it again. Gary Oldman is deserving of his golden globe, and Kristin Scott Thomas stunning as his wife. Loved supporting role of his secretary too played by Downton’s Lily James too. What a film. Go see it if you can! Next week, The Post!
This Week on QVC
Apart from the highlights above, here’s what we can look forward to over the next week.
