I hope all’s well…
I’d like to start by thanking all of you who kindly entered the Murano glass jewellery competition in my last blog. Congrats go to Sue Knight our lucky winner and better luck next time to all other entrants – many thanks also for your kind comments.
Last weekend my daughter Ali and I went to our local village May fair. We try and go every year and this year the sun shone brightly. It’s not a totally traditional English village fair with Morris and Maypole dancing, ferret racing and yard of ale drinking competitions, but it’s still a very pleasant occasion and raises much needed funds for local charities. There were brewery Shire horse cart rides, pony rides and all manner of side stalls most of which represented a local charity – there were performances from a local dance school and an informal dog show!
Toby and Ellie were with us (hoping to get a nibble of a burger or two) and having just returned from a walk, were not exactly fit for showing but we entered into the charity spirit of the event and entered them into The Prettiest Bitch and Handsome Dog categories – sadly the young girl who was given the daunting task of judging didn’t fall for their shaggy charms, but I think Ellie’s hastily-tied pink ribbon helped her gain a rosette. All the entrants were lovely and I wouldn’t have liked the responsibility of judging them myself. Here’s Ellie showing off her rosette with Ali…
Next Wednesday 13th June, weather permitting, I’ll be presenting from the QVC garden – a three hour Summer Food Fair – no dog shows but plenty of mouth-watering offerings from our award-winning food brands. Obviously not even my gargantuan appetite could eat for for hours so I’ll be looking for assistance from our “Table de degustation” and any hungry-looking guests from the day’s shows. Returning favourites include The Real Pie Co, Gower Cottage Brownies, Flower & White, Original Cake Co, Laithwaites Wines, Forman & Son and Churchills.
We also have a new meat range from James Alexander, locally sourced in Cumbria, featuring BBQ selection and a mixed grill and another new brand called We Love Man Food – who are bringing us the BBQ essentials featuring smoky corn relish, Adobo wing sauce, smoky tomato sauce and beer BBQ sauce.
Whittard of Chelsea have some lovely Alice in Wonderland-inspired sets and I have taken a picture of some of their lovely items that will feature including Whittard of Chelsea Alice Afternoon Tea Party Gift Box and 807614 Whittard of Chelsea Alice in Wonderland Tea Party Duo.
Finally just a quick note that I have joined the merry throng on Instagram and I’d love it if you could follow me @dalefranklintv, the same user name as my Twitter account 🙂
Until next time … stay summery and Bon appetit !
