Bring back Gordon (and I don’t mean the gopher)!!

Pipa Gordon There is a very good reason why Tapas is my favourite food - I CAN NEVER MAKE MY MIND UP!! So, take me for Tapas and I can choose 5 or 6 different dishes and all will be well - I like to see it as an adventurous nature (as opposed to a pain in the beee hind!!)

I think it means that I'm easily pleased - NON?? It means there are lots of things I like and not just the one! Fickle?? No!! Adventurous? Absolutely… Catch my drift? Can you tell where I’m going with this yet..?
Anyway, so 9 years ago (today!) I was married to my lovely hubby but at the time was working for the BBC and my boss wasn’t keen on me changing my name from Gordon. So I didn’t. But for the following 8 years and after joining QVC, I flirted with the idea.

Last year, having decided I was sick of thinking about it and fed up with signing the wrong surname with the wrong credit card, and who I had told the dentist I was or the hairdresser I was, I thought I’d make it simple and put it all under one name - my married name, Vanderburg.
So here we are one year later celebrating our 9th Wedding Anniversary today. But I decided that Pipa on TV and the radio has been and will always be Pipa Gordon - NONE of us at QVC behind the scenes can get our heads around the name change to Vanderburg. I feel odd to call myself that when I'm working (which you could argue is pretty weird as the rest of the time I have no problem with it) but there you go, call me weird!
So, I've decided to return to Pipa G! And that means QVC, you don’t have to change the name on my dressing room door any longer (it still says Pipa Gordon!)
… but the hair is staying blonde for now! Come on, one change a month is enough isn’t it?

Love Pipa x

Don’t change it again, Pipa – you’ll just cause more confusion!

Hello Pipa, I’ve only just got my brain round Vanderburg Happy Anniversary to you both. And love your hair short and blonde. Mind you if you can’t decide on a colour next time try plaid – that should give your hairdresser something to work on and you the variety you love. Variety makes life interesting.
Hope all is well with you all.

    Hello Pipa,
Loved the green top you were wearing today for the Vivant show – is it available on QVC? (and hopefully in black! *crosses fingers!*)
PS. Your hair is great now it’s all white-blond and spikey again, really suits you! And yes, I still think of you as a Gordon!

Pippa, You are a gorgeous person and your style and name suit you well. If this is any help my daughter never uses her real name in the field of work either she is a Sarah at work and a _______ within the family when she marries as she is 35, hopefully by the time she is 90 she will use her own surname not her married name as part of the job.
As for hair colour go with the mood girl I do I am 58.

    Hi Pipa,
Congratulations on your Wedding Anniversary. We have just celebrated ours last weekend.
I really do love your blonde hair colour. You are a fab presenter as well, I love watching your shows on QVC. Keep up the brilliant work.

    Hi Pipa
You are one of my fave presenters on QVC. When you did that survey for changing your hair colour I originally said to keep it dark as I didnt think blonde would suit you. Having watched you with blonde hair now for a few weeks I have to say it looks fab. I like the white blonde effect rather than a yellow blonde on you. I have recently had blonde highlights in my hair and I love it- planning to go even lighter next time too!
Congratulations on your wedding anniversary too! x

    Hi Pipa
We could never get used to calling you Vandeburg so the change back suits our house perfectly. Congrats to you and hubby on your anniversary, i wish you both many many more to comex I was watching last night when you were talking about painting the garage door/preparing the evening meal at the same time and running into the kitchen and slipping!! I hope things are not too painful or bruised. I just love the conversations you start when you are presenting – your just a gab(but please dont changex – or at least try not to!!) Linda, Glasgow

I think you are quite right to change your name as much as you want. I can really identify with how you feel. I stuck with my surname, Greenwood, when I got married. Then when I got pregnant I became all traditional and respectable,as I imagined the midwife presenting me with my baby and saying, “It’s a girl, Mrs Coia”. So I changed my medical records and passport, but nothing else. So I am in a constant state of confusion.
When one of my friends got married, neither she nor her husband liked their surnames so they picked a totally new one and both adopted it.
So, in a similar vein, I have made a decision, so that everything is easier for us all. Henceforth I shall be known as Debbie FLINT. Is that clearer?

Debbie you are hilarious!!!! Where would we be without you??… its funny because there is a Pippa Greenwood somehwhere in TV land – so you and I become amalgamated into one!!!!

The one thing I can’t get my head round is that the spelling of your first name seems to have changed – is it Pipa or PiPPa???

  17. Cazza October 18, 2009 at 3:35 pm -  Reply

I was born Carole Ashton Judd but as my mother married several times I have had various surnames. Since my divorce 5 years ago I reverted back to my maiden name and added the hyphen to make the name more up market!!! I love it. Also I change my hair colour to suit the seasons so good luck with the blonde. Hope you are keeping well, I will be dusting off my Pipa christmas cd’s again to get me in the xmas spirit soon. Take care – loved the breast cancer care day QVC just show how caring they can be.

Hi Pipa – have just watched the Grey Diamonique show and once again I was really taken with your hair – great! Having gone through the ‘experience’ of chemotherapy, radiotherapy and all that comes with it having been diagnosed with breast cancer during the past year, I now have about as much hair as you! As you mentioned that you were ‘daydreaming’ in Guildford I would love to know if you get your hair styled, cut, coloured etc., in the area and where and by whom. I too live in Surrey and would love the chance to feel ‘human’ again by having my hair brought up to date and funky like yours. Please reply if you have the time – many thanks – stay lovely and bubbly – Sue x
