A quick reminder for our Breast Cancer Care event!

The models Hello everyone,

Just a quickie right now to encourage you to watch our annual Breast Cancer Care event, which is being shown on Wednesday (tomorrow) at 7pm for three hours.

It will be full of fun, laughs and loads of energy, but also some more poignant moments – we rarely get through the whole show without a few tears!

The crowd

Ali's speech

I was lucky enough to attend the live event last Wednesday, and went behind the scenes to interview some of the models who have all been diagnosed with breast cancer (you can see them during the Wednesday evening show).

They were amazing – looked like professional models and had the day of their lives. It's an incredibly positive, uplifting day, but emotional too.

The emotion was ramped up even more in the evening, when Ali Keenan gave the most eloquent, moving, funny and heart-rending speech. Her delivery was perfect, except that she had to keep stopping while we clapped her. Then came the end, with a standing ovation and we just wouldn't stop clapping and cheering her.

She had put into words what so many women, and men, who have coped with breast cancer and its cruel treatments have felt, but haven't quite known how to express.

Almost everyone had tears running down their faces, a lump in their throat and a hugely full feeling in their heart.

You can see her speech in full on our website, and also on our facebook page and there will probably be an edited version shown on the Wednesday evening show, but better than that – Ali is back for the first time since she started her treatment.

She will be with Simon, Debbie, Claire and Craig to take you through what promises to be a spectacularly brilliant and busy show. I'm sorry not to be there myself, but someone has to get up early to bring you the Morning Show!

I hope you catch at least some of our BCC event, and also manage to join me at 9am Tuesday to Friday for my regular morning slot.

Take care, and be aware, show you care.

Kathy x

    Hi Kathy
Just found out that you are bloging again, we missed you so much.
Iam so looking forward to the BCC 3 hours on QVC tomorrow, I watch it every year, but this year is going to hit home more for me as I have been diagnosed with breast cancer same time as Ali.
I had my operation and my treatment and Iam now on the road to recovery, I did not have as many treatment as Ali, and Ali”s blog kept me positive all the time, she is a great lady.
I did watch her speech on YouTube with tears running down my face, but was so happy to see her looking great, can”t wait to see her live on QVC again. Will miss you on the show but I do enjoy watching your morning show, and I know that you have been a great friend to Ali through her illness, your smile always lefts me up, you are like the Mallorca sun shine every morning.
    Much love.

Wonderful blog Kathy…and beautiful photos. I am so pleased you were there with your surrogate sister as I said to Ali. It must have been very emotional for you too after all you’ve been through with her. Ali’s lovely Colin and Mother and children and family must be so proud and be so emotional after their long road. Wonderful night to come! See you the next day – get some sleep! You’re a star for all your morning shows – especially in the winter!!
    Take care

You are a great friend to Ali, along with Debbie G and it was so lovely to see and hear Ali again. We really have missed her and she looked stunning. Her speech was just wonderful and so well pitched – what a professional and genuine person she is. The BCC show last night on QVC was just fabulous and I was so delighted to hear the amount of money raised for such a worthy cause. We missed you last night Kathy, but always enjoy seeing you on the morning shows. Great to read your blogs. Many thanks, Sue xx

    Hi Kathy
Can i just say that the meal both you and Ali K enjoyed sounds so delicious – trout is my favoutire fish and pistachio and olives sounds like good partners – i normally cook trout with almonds – i could taste it whilst reading your reply. Now – QVC BCC night – what a massive success,as usual, but a little more special this year because of Ali Kxx What an achievemnt in achieving £500,000 plus from the event – i managed to solve a few Chrissie pressies dilemmas and a few items for myself – Leighton Denny’s and Kelly Hoppen’s t-shirts along with the Leighton Denny nail polish duo – i’m really looking forward to receiving them. Your looking great Kathy – you really suit the longer hairx You always look comfortable in “your own skin” and that is an achievemnt for any woman – congratulationsx Look after yourself and speak on your next blogxx love Linda,Glasgowxx

Dear Magda, so sorry I’ve taken an age to reply, and pleased that your treatment is now complete. Look after yourself.
I don’t think I’ve ever been paid such a lovely compliment as yours about the Mallorcan sunshine – that made my day! Thank you so much.
And don’t miss Ali returning to our screens next tuesday – 7pm for 2 hours of DQ with Charlie! Good news.

Hi Susan. Yes, the evening was so emotional – I was wiped out next da and had the first 3 hours on air and then a photo shoot the next day. (Luckily the photographer was my husband, and we had professional makeup!) The emotion has all been good lately, though, with Lucy’s wedding and Ali coming back next week. She’ll need her wig at first, but her hair is coming back so well it might not be long…
And yes, i find the dark mornings make it tough to wake early, but I really enjoy being the regular Morning Show presenter, so it’s worth it! A little secret…watch out for extended Morning Shows in the new Year!!
    Best wishes

Thanks for your lovely comments, Linda – good to hear from you. I’m glad you enjoyed our BCC evening – I’m sure the amazing figure we raised was, in part, down to Ali. I loved Leighton’s t shirt, and also bought 2 outsized Northern Nights pillows – great for propping myself up with a cup of tea and the sunday papers!
    keep watching!

Hello Sue. Thanks so much for your comments – you put into words what so many of us feel about Ali. Everyone is saying what a good friend to her I am, but I can assure you, she is a better one in return!
I’m so looking forward to having her back to share our dressing room. It’s been lonely without her.
    est woashes to you
