Bonny Scotland

Pirate Ship at the Robin House Children's HospiceA few days ago, I had the great honour attending the opening of the gardens at the Robin House Children's Hospice, Balloch near Glasgow.

The ceremony was performed by the lovely Lesley Watson, presenter of BBC Scotland's 'The Beechgrove Garden'. We saw the four amazing areas that had been created: a family garden, sensory garden, bereavement garden as well as an incredible play garden which featured a wonderful two storey wooden pirate ship!

I was delighted to be there as it had, in part, been funded by QVC's Garden Re-Leaf shows which raised £11,000 for the Greenfingers charity who created these fabulous gardens. It was wonderful to see the children and their families enjoying the gardens so much, and I was proud that our fundraising had been put to such good use.

It was lovely and sunny in Scotland, but still raining back home. I reckon this is the trickiest growing season in memory. My bedding plants are really struggling in the rain and the only consolation are those under cover in the greenhouse. Surely, the weather must get better soon!

Happy gardening
