This week is flying by isn't it? I've just come off air with Betsy Kaye; we had such a fun time showing her jewellery. We discussed during the show how during life we make mistakes and how we can learn from them.
Well, it reminded me of one of the biggest mistakes I made… I've written about this before, but in case you missed it, this is the story… well to be fair it was an innocent accident!
Going back many years to my early radio days I used to present the overnight show; five nights a week from one in the morning until six in the morning. I loved it, but it was tiring! Anyway, after my show it was my duty to change the logging tapes.
The tapes were required by law to record the output of the station. So, off I trundled into engineering to change the tape… and unbeknownst to me this is when the accident happened!! As I changed over the tapes, I knocked a chair which knocked a ladder which knocked a switch and took the station off air – OOOPS!
Lesson learnt… not to take a radio station off air!
Other than that I've been fairly accident-free (although, at the same station I did delete some radio commercials by mistake, and then there's the time a colleague swore on air!)
Any work blunders you'd like to share? I'd love to hear from you!
