Surfing, pop trivia and a great recipe for soup

I’ve just enjoyed a few fabulous days off. I went Brush Board surfing and didn’t feel a single drop of water! It was excellent fun and I’ve never done anything quite like it before (apart from on the sea!)

Mum was also visiting at the time and although I tried to persuade her, she was adamant that she was only there to watch!

I also had a go at indoor skydiving! Wow, that was amazing and the sheer rush of air keeping you afloat is sensational. I’m now tempted to take to the skies for real!

Charlie Brook Brushboard Surfing

I love extreme sports and as a teenager it was hard to keep me off my skateboard and BMX. I wasn’t that great on the board but was really at home with my BMX. I had the record on my estate for the longest jump! Me and my friends managed to get hold of some milk bottle crates from the milkman. My record was clearing 13 of them in a row (not recommended – don’t try that at home!)

I wasn’t wearing a helmet back then, which wasn’t sensible, but when I was a teenager very few people did. Now it’s essential and I won’t leave home with out one and neither do my children.

On another note, congratulations to those who correctly answered last weeks pops trivia challenge…

Question… Which 1970’s No. 1 hit single didn’t have its track title in its lyrics, but did have the track title of the single that replaced it at No 1. in its lyrics?

Answer… Queen Bohemian Rhapsody (replaced by Abba, Mama Mia)

Perhaps you have a pop trivia question you’d like to test me and everyone else on? Do leave a comment below. I’ll give some thought for more in the future.

I know I always talk about time going so quickly, but, can you believe we’re into December?! I’m well on course for getting all of my Christmas shopping done by mid December. Dad is bought for, so is mum (Liz Earle, but sshhhh, don’t tell her!) and my nieces and nephews too. I can safely mention mum’s gift as she doesn’t have a computer or tablet and despite numerous offers from me is adamant she doesn’t want one. Although when she visited, I showed her some of my favourite YouTube clips, she was really impressed as well as entertained :-)

If you’re on the search for fabulous gifts this Christmas then do browse our site; plus our money back guarantee is extended to Sunday 25th January  on Christmas gifts for added peace of mind.

If it’s a beauty gift, you’re on the search for, then watch out for L’Occitane this weekend (a stunning Today’s Special Value). I have a show on Sunday 7th December at 4pm.

Then, If it’s chocolate you’re after – I’ve an hour of Thorntons Chocolates on Monday 8th December at 8pm! I should mention, and it’s very important, that I’m contractually bound at QVC… which means… I have to eat the chocolate while the guest does the talking… seems fair!

Now, if you have a Vitamix from QVC, here’s the Thai ginger soup with cashews recipe for you, as promised. I’ve had so many requests for this.

Special thanks to Gareth from Vitamix for emailing it to me… It’s delicious! This is what you need…

Vitamix with smoothies

500 ml water
1 carrot (100g)
1 slice cabbage (100g)
1 stick celery (100g)
1 slice bell pepper (20g)
1 piece courgette (50g)
1 spring onion, halved (10g)
1 slice lemon, unpeeled (25g)
Half garlic clove
1 piece fresh ginger root, unpeeled (10g)
1 slice chilli (5g)
Cashews (100g)
Fresh coriander (10g)
Honey (5ml)
1 vegetable stock cube

1. Place all the ingredients into the vitamix container in the order listed and secure the lid
2. Select variable 1
3. Turn the machine on and slowly increase speed to variable 10 and then to high
4. Blend for 5 minutes or until heavy steam escapes from the vented lid – serve immediately and enjoy!

I love my Vitamix, without question a considered purchase, but it is most definitely one of the best if not the best purchase I’ve ever made from QVC. If you’re interested you can find out more here.

On a final note, I was hoping to bring you QPLAY this week but the clip of the product I had in mind has actually sold out! I’ll save the clip and as soon as it’s back in stock we’ll feature in on a future blog.

Take care and see you soon.

I’m going to dash now as I’ve just realised I haven’t opened my chocolate advent calendar today!

    Morning Charlie.
Oh well done on the Xmas shopping….I think you’ve beaten me this year. Although I did start late but have only a few items to get now. Finally got the cards finished and posted [ your’s has been sent.]
I’ll be putting the tree up next week [ much to Bella’s delight]. She loves just looking at the lights.
I’ll be tuning in to the L’occitane show on Sunday [ can never have enough of the Almond ]. I have a L’occitane shop in my shopping centre and every time I go past they try and shut the shop to stop me going in [ I’m in there that often ].
I’m thinking of treating myself to the cooks essentuals soup/ smoothie maker as I’m getting into soup this year. Not too sure if 1.5 LT is going to be a little big for 1 person.
I brought Bella a dog advent calendar [ Oh boy does she bugs me for her daily treat].
Talking of which enjoy Thornton’s on Tuesday [ I know you will.].
    Take care.
Love Debby and WHOOF’S from Bella

Hi Debby and festive whoofs to Bella!

Thanks so much for my card and the wonderful treats.
I know what you mean about L’occitane – I adore the range, and the hand cream I’ve used for 15 years now!
The soup maker I can’t recommend enough – it’s brilliant.
I didn’t know there was an advent available for dogs… How brilliant!
    Best wishes
