What an amazing weekend we had at Wotton Village Hall, Surrey, raising money for the fabulous charity Medical Detection Dogs which has been in the news a lot lately, see below.
For those who don’t know, I moved house this summer, and used all of my nearly new items to set up a tabletop sale. We also had a sponsored Bodyblade event which lots of people took part in including Patrick from Quacker Factory, and Abi Cleeve from Ultrasun. Thanks also to Polly from Imedeen who was there doing collagen scans and making many of our ladies happy! The ladies who look after their skin for instance with Gatineau (join me this Sunday 16th at 7pm for a show with Andrew,) got very good scan results!
Justine Balmer popped by and helped video the Bodyblade sponsored wobble (more here), which even Patrick took part in, plus Ginetta from Veronese came with Craigy, and Selina from no! no! also made an appearance too, explaining about the new mini No! No! – our new Today’s Special Value this weekend (Sunday 16th). Read Jilly’s latest blog for more info about the No! No!, plus news of Jilly’s daughter’s triumph!
We also had a fabulous fabulous tea rooms, where my daughter’s boyfriend Nick had his own triumph – he pulled a blinder again with his famous carrot cake. Regulars may remember he made it for my son’s wedding cake. So many people asked for the recipe I am posting it on my own website as soon as he gives it to me it will be on this blog – click here.
As you’ll know from last week, we also held a superb online mega raffle, using the Just Giving raffle function which has strict rules, and the money all goes direct to MDD. Plus we had other donations.
So… drum roll! The total we raised is around about £5000. Yes really. It does include big private donations to. This does mean that we can name a puppy. More about the day and the charity on my website. This week’s Back To You blog was all about the event, based on Monday’s web chat with me! It was my turn in the hot seat, and it was really good fun. Lots of people asked lots of questions about the charity so go here to read the web chat Q&A with me, where you will see all of the links, many more pictures, and all of the articles and videos and newspaper reports from MDD this weekend.
Basically Dr Claire (from MDD) has been given the go-ahead to use this sniffer dogs to detect prostate cancer in hospital urine samples. More here. Big news, and bodes well for the future of this lovely charity! More news about it, and me, soon! (Am v excited but can’t tell you yet!)
Where did it all begin? And how do the dogs do it? Watch this.
And here’s a link to the BBC news feature that coincidentally appeared on the morning of our event!

The lovely dogs we had attending on Saturday were mainly helping their diabetic owners, by, as Dr Claire Guest explained in the video above, alerting them when their breath tells the dog that the person is too low or too high in blood sugar. The dog will not stop mothering them until the owner has taken their bloods, and taking appropriate action as a result.
I was proud to be involved on the day, and my big news is still to come. More soon. Do sign up for my newsletter on my website for regular weekly updates. Www.debbieflint.com.
Tour around the home
Well the house is more or less done and the boxes more or less unpacked, the pictures more or less on the wall, and this week I finally got Sky TV installed so I’m more or less back to normal. What a relief! Go to my website to see the video of the tour around my front room ha ha click here. (Those who have subscribed to the newsletter will have seen this first.) I am very happy in my little Bijou cottage. Lovely Ginetta from Veronese said that Emma her daughter has studied English houses and they popped by on Saturday after the charity event, and Emma was overjoyed to actually go inside a ‘proper English cottage!’ He he. Yes it is definitely one of those. And it’s my new home! Whoop!
So here it is and what a fab Liz Earle sneaky peek this is! Firstly the new super skin serum from Liz Earle has been a long time in coming, and deals with three important elements of ageing, wrinkles radiance and firming. Watch out for it on their next visit on the 24th August. Plus how exciting is this? You could be amongst the first to try the brand new fragrance, No 20, celebrating 20 years of this amazing brand. I was there right at the start when Liz first launched five products here on QVC and they have never looked back. The No 15 fragrance is my absolute favourite in the world, and I can see myself using this number 20 too – layering or for an evening out. It smells more floral to my nose than number 15, I love it!
To win both of these, just leave a comment as usual, saying ‘enter me’ or tell me if you want to, what’s your favourite fragrance from the range. Terms and conditions are here. One winner be randomly selected! Competition closes midday on Thursday the 20th and the winner will be announced next Friday. Good luck.
Read it Write it Sell it. Book of the week’s, is Beryl Kingston, ‘Off the Rails.’ If you like gritty northern period novels this is a good one for you. More here on my writing blog this week. And after a concerted effort using my TTFLS system, this is what Debbie Sinclair Bunn said this week – fab pic eh!
Nice nails again! My lovely sis Linda made sure that after the house move was ended, she would gave me a good Red Carpet Manicure, at the Westcroft Carshalton Elemis spa. My nephew Ricky who is the osteopath there, gave my shoulders a good rub, too. Gosh I really needed it! My lovely sis is now off to Milan to sell red carpet manicure on QVC Italy, safe travels Linda! But she is often in the spa so do you go see her for some red carpet manicure tips.
