A big family celebration, and new shoes…!

11

Hi all,

I had the most wonderful weekend – as I mentioned in my last blog, my mum was celebrating a big birthday (I am not allowed to say which one, but she looks and acts nothing like her age!) so hubby and I headed off to Ireland where most of my family lives for a big party to mark the occasion. We all stayed in a lovely hotel in Athlone, on the shores of Lough Ree – the hotel had the most wonderful spa, and my mum and I made the most of it on the Saturday afternoon, while we waited for everyone else to arrive. Mum had her favourite treatment, reflexology, while I plumped for the full body aromatherapy massage which was just blissful. I rarely take the time to go to a salon or spa, other than getting my hair done, so it was such a treat.

By the evening everyone else was there and we were all ready to party! Mum, myself and my three sisters and our brother, all of our partners, plus eight of mum’s nine grandchildren – it was the biggest gathering of the clan in years, as we all live so far apart that it’s quite hard to get us all in one place at the same time. We had SO much fun, and vowed as always not to wait so long before getting together the next time – we really need to just do it, and not wait for a special occasion, we have decided! Life is short, and we have already lost one of my sisters – we need to make the most of it, and time together, while we can.

Here are a couple of photos – that’s my mum with all of her children (we are in age order behind mum from the oldest (me!) to the youngest).

And then me with my hubby – I’m wearing a Join Clothes dress. I love the Join Clothes range at QVC but I actually got this dress directly from the Join Clothes website. I love it, especially with my favourite Clarks ‘cage’ shoes which you’ve probably seen me wear a LOT on air! I finished the look with my new Frank Usher necklace.

Talking of shoes, there’s a great Skechers Today’s Special Value offer coming up at the weekend (on Sunday 23rd July). It’s a slip on ballet pump with the famous GOGA mat technology which makes them just ridiculously comfortable – like walking around with mattresses strapped to your feet!

There are six colours (black, navy, grey, pink, purple and aqua) and this style is only available at QVC. I’ve been testing the black and they are just wonderful for running around on a busy day – no sore feet and great casual styling.

I always love to hear from you so please do leave a comment under this blog – I’m also on Twitter (@jackiekabler) and, after some gentle persuasion from Ruth Langsford, am now on Instagram too. My Instagram name is @officialjackiekabler as I discovered when I joined that someone had set up a fake account in my name under @jackiekabler – sigh!

See you soon!

Love Jackie x

Lovely blog Jackie, it’s nice when family get together. Like you my family are a bit spread out, 3 in Australia, 2 in Belfast and me in Gloucester. I don’t get home as often as I would like but it’s always nice when I do.

    Hi Jackie,
Your mum is so glam! Happy belated birthday. I’m so impressed by your attractive family, your mum did well! I’m sure you always feel the loss of your sister and miss her even more on occasions like that. Glad you had a great time though x

      Hi Susan
Yes mum is very glam…I hope I look half as good at her age! And yes, we always miss my sister so much, it doesn’t seem right that there are only five of us siblings now instead of six. Thanks so much for the kind words.

Hi Jackie, you always look great on screen, but recently I have seen you wear a black top, with one shoulder that has a floral strap. It’s plain black and looks to be cold shoulder. I love it and have searched through QVC website but can’t find it. Could you tell me which range it’s from please?

      Hi Julie
If it’s the top I think you mean I wore it for a Dyson hairdryer recording which keeps getting repeated…I’m so sorry but it’s an old Mark Bouwer top which we no longer stock. Apologies!
