Behind the scenes with the Dyson V6 Fluffy

The brand new Dyson V6 Fluffy is coming very soon to QVC, so we sent Presenter Miceal Murphy out and about to put it to the test and find out what makes this new model so exciting. Miceal and the QVC crew set up the Dyson Challenge outside of QVC’s head office and asked a selection of people to test the new Dyson V6 Fluffy against a conventional machine. The results really were quite amazing!

Mark Emery, from Dyson’s head office, had the glamorous job of collecting all sorts of detritus to be vacuumed up as part of the challenge. As well as breakfast cereals and breadcrumbs, Mark used baking powder and other household mess that might normally be found in the average kitchen. The crew and passers-by watched as the conventional upright machine just about managed to pick up some of the smaller crumbs – but largely left the large cereal pieces and dust – not leaving a very clean result!

However, when the Dyson Fluffy was used, every single volunteer was genuinely impressed by the difference. The Fluffy left a beautifully clean strip on the messy floor that had been set up, and some of the comments included how easy it was to use, how lightweight it was and how it surprisingly picked up both the small and large pieces – unlike the other model. Everyone taking part in the challenge wanted to take the Fluffy home with them!

dyson dirt edit

After a hard afternoon vacuuming in the sunshine, next to the picturesque lake, the final challenge of the day was to fend off the pigeons that kept gathering – eager to do their part in cleaning up the breakfast cereal and crumb concoction! But even a gang of eight hungry-looking birds were no match for the results of the Fluffy.

Dyson Engineer, Jimmy McIntosh, spoke to us about what makes the Fluffy’s new design so unique:

“The new Dyson Fluffy can maintain its high suction power by utilising its soft spinning brushbar to seal the head to the floor, rather than just a traditional hard plastic housing. This allows the front edge of the tool to be raised – meaning it can easily tackle large bits of dust and debris, such as cereal, but also to keep the high suction required to clean much smaller particles of fine dust. This raised front edge also means there is no plastic bumper, so you can clean right up to the edges of a room. It also features an internal baffle which reduces the kinetic energy of dust and dirt being flung into the cleaner head, making it possible to pick up much larger volumes of debris than would usually be expected.”

We do spoil you here at QVC – to celebrate this fantastic offer, we’re also running a competition in which you can win one of three Dyson AM05 bladeless Hot + Cool fan heaters. To find out more and enter, click here!
