– Some of the best bits of Saturday nights on QVC – check out Dale's lips! Lol!
– Deb and Dale as elves! Debbie Does the Wall – Xbox style! And best ever highlights vid!
– McIntyre at the Apollo, and Gracie comes to work with me!
– Plus – tell me your favourite bit about Christmas!
Well we had some fab guests didn't we? What a run it was, that 'Saturday Night Gifts' show! From Mick Hucknall and Mel C, to Mat Trim (pictured) and his alter ego Santa, as well as some amazing bargains and big brands from Apple to Elemis, a good time was had by all. And if you want a recap – here it is!
Saturday Night Gifts finale
Oh how sad we were to say goodbye to what has been one of the most fun series of shows to do on QVC, ever!
The guests helped to make it hugely enjoyable for Dale and I. Mat dressed up as Santa and took lots of behind the scenes pics which he uploaded with Will onto @qvcuk twitter. Go look at some if you can, from 15th – very enlightening!
Gracie dog was allowed in for the last show, too, and everyone fell in love with her whilst SHE promptly fell asleep! Even whilst we were awaiting the next live TV studio link to the EMUs during Dale's candles airing with Gill Gauntlett! Look at her face, is she bovvered?!
Another fab guest was Lee Hohbein, on with the iPad, who created a funny little video of Dale and me being elves, on a site called JibJab! Here it is in full for you if you missed it! Or if you saw it and want to relive the torture of us watching it again! Lol.
(Actually it's a good idea to create your own JibJab vid as a little pressie you can email to someone far away eh!) Then there was the Xbox, which Dale embarrassed himself doing a few weeks back (see highlights video at the bottom!). Well this time, Andy was demonstrating how one of the Nike games could really get you off sofa and… through the wall! I just couldn't resist…
Then it was time for Dale and me to present some Shavata 'lips' tweezers – which Dale chose to use as an opportunity to pucker up! Then we both decided to help Will get plucked! Specially for that 'highbrow' look as he read some Tweets!
If I had another thousand words, I'd include even more highlights, but the video below will sum it up much better than I can. Thanks to all the guests and other presenters who took part! Such a fun time we had.
Am sure you'll find out more from Dale on his blog, including some behind the scenes stuff from the next night when he brought in his own dog Toby! Bless him!
Well it was fabulous – and here are just a few of the highlights of the series – hopefully there’ll be more of the same in January – more info at the end of this clip!
Yes it should be good fun in January – join Ali K and myself for the first one on Saturday 5th January – and let me know by leaving a comment below if there's anything or anyone or any product you'd like to see – or see again – in this new show!
Michael McIntyre's comedy show at the Hammersmith Apollo
Earlier this week, the festivities continued when on Monday night it was time for a Christmas treat for me and my two lovely kids, with a trip to the Michael McIntyre charity show for Kids Company. Apart from being stuck in traffic on a part of the A3 for nearly an hour and a half (it usually takes ten minutes!) it was a fab night.
Michael is a firm family favourite, and he didn't disappoint. I was glad of my 20x zoom camera tho' (like the one in item 502564), as you can see how far away our seats were from these two pics – both from the same seat! One with and one without zoom. We couldn't even see he was WEARING a hat from up in the gods, till I zoomed in! Still very funny tho'!
Other comics appeared too for a short set, amongst them were Sarah Millican, John Bishop and Jack Whitehall, as well as songs from both Pixie Lott and Jamie Cullum! How lucky were we!?
My fave joke of the night (and I'm rubbish at remembering – and telling! – jokes, so this one made an impression!) was from Harry Hill. He said – 'my gran has two blue eyes. But for the last three months one of them has been red. It's a bit of an inconvenience, but means she can watch 3D without glasses'. Hahahaha!
What's your favourite joke? Have you got one funnier than that? Or cleverer? (Leave me a comment below. And regulars – this is your chance to say hi to me for Christmas!) Anyway, I'm sure there'll be a DVD or CD of this show, but if not, here's a little clip of Michael I found on YouTube to make you smile!
– It was of course Christmas tree decorating time last week – when I and my lovely daughter, down for the comedy show, finally got to deck our real tree. This was the before, ready to put the lights and decs on! And in our festive jumpers too (Artscapes and Quacker Factory – courtesy of QVC, of course!)
And this was the after – lovely! Including two new sets of the poinsettia lights I bought a few weeks back. Very sharp pine needles on this one – we decorated using rubber gloves! Haha!
– I managed to get my hands on some of this year's QVC presenter Christmas cards – made each year for corporate purposes. It's quite a nice one don't you think?
In fact the whole campaign this year has been great – all the promos and everything! So well done to the behind the scenes team! If you missed any of them, here's another chance to see the whole complete video. They split it up and are using sections for show openers and promos etc.
And if I manage to get any more cards, would you like me to send you one? If so, just send me a card and include your address and I'll do my best! Our QVC address is :- QVC, Building 8, Chiswick Park, 566 Chiswick High Road, London, W4 5XU.
And thanks to everyone who's already sent cards – yours will be on its way soon – apologies if it's a bit late but hopefully it'll be worth waiting for one of the QVC presenter ones! 🙂
– As promised last week, here's the outcome of the Work In Progress by backstage Floor Manager Vanessa and her elves – it turned out to be an impressive Santa Wall, complete with fireplace and a stocking for each of the 'helpers'!
Well done as ever you guys! They do brighten up our backstage area for us and all the guests!
WATCH – gosh – at Christmas!? Where do I start! Well having not made it to the cinema like I'd planned to this week, (time just ran away with me – it always does in December!), I thought I'd earmark a couple of my favourite Christmas films, in case you've never seen them, and also a reminder of one of the best Christmas shows of all time, which is still available on DVD.
I'm talking of course about Morecambe and Wise – without whom Christmasses in the 70s and 80s just wouldn't have been the same. Well if you didn't know, Gold have been showing a Wednesday night round-up of some of their best bits – and if it's available on catch up TV, well worth a shot. And – stop press! If you're reading this in time, Gold are also showing the whole series again, from 1.40pm on Saturday 22nd. Just think – the 1978 Christmas special starring Penelope Keith was watched by nearly half the country, straight after the Queen's Speech – that's 28 million people. Eat your heart out, Simon Cowell! Lol.
Otherwise, the DVDs are fab! I had the pleasure of interviewing Ernie Wise when I was on a show called '31 West' years ago – lovely guy – wish I still had the tape, I'd have shown it! Anyway here's Glenda Jackson being 'Morecambe and Wise'd' from the Christmas special 1971!
So – Christmas films! What are your 'must watch' films every Yuletide? Two of my absolute favourites have to be these two – do catch them if you can. And tell me – what are yours? And why?
QVC – too much to tell you about – suffice it to say our 'All About You' event this weekend will help you treat yourself in the run up to the big day, with products that will arrive probably after Christmas. One of them will be the Saturday night/Sunday (22nd/23rd December) Today's Special Value, from Perricone – including some amazing items – here's a little video to tell you more.
Do join me at midnight on Saturday for one of the best chances to get our most premium skincare brand!
Then I'm back on air at the end of next week (28th, 29th, 30th 31st) including with an interesting new games tablet that'll be really keenly priced – and huge! Am working New Year's Eve evening, too. Do you work? Which do you prefer – Christmas or New Year? I think you can guess which one I'm into more!
Anyway that's it for now – final blog of 2012 at the end of next week, and best wishes for a happy Christmas! Don't forget to tell me how you got on and what was the best bit about THIS Christmas for you and your family!
Best wishes for a Merry Christmas!
Debs, Brad, Lauren, Kari, Nick, Mr BOMT, and pogs Holly, Patch, Daisy and Gracie!
