Beer gifts, star-studded party & remembering Conkers

Apparently it’s been 11 years since beer’s appeared on QVC, so this year it’s on the bill and I’m wondering if that has anything to do with me (!). There’s an interesting-looking home-brewing kit on sale online right now – but in all honesty I’ve not tried it yet.

What is fabulous is you have the extended 30-day Money Back Guarantee, so if you buy if for your other half, you’ve got until January 25th to try it out – it’s only 4.2% strength. It’s already sold so well that the Bitter is on Waitlist, but the Golden Ale (‘Cheese Makers’) and the Dark Ale (‘Dark Adder’) are still available. Hubby tells me they appeared on Dragon’s Den a while back but my memory’s not that good. Anyhoo, take a look at the video with Catherine online and why not have a go!

A little birdie also tells me that pals of mine from ‘Best of British Beer’ (who are online retailers of beer, based in Stoke) might be turning up on QVC to sell a gift pack or two. I showcased one of their beer boxes on ITV’s This Morning last year – before I landed at QVC – so I heartily endorse their support of British brewers who work very hard to produce fantastic tasting beers. Keep an eye out during the Food and Gift shows coming up on QVC, and on my tweets @TVMarv to find out when they’ll be on.

Also recently, the bosses from Aldi Stores invited me to the launch of the new Christmas drinks they have on offer in their stores – they’ve got something for everyone. Lots of amazing beers, fizz and spirits collections.

I recently was a judge at a prestigious awards ceremony which highlight the TV industry’s commitment to diversity – i.e. rewarding TV shows which improve the representation people across the board, be they ethnic minorities, disabled, lesbian or gay people, blind, partially-sighted or deaf, and so on. It was the first time I’d been and it turned out to be a star-studded affair. Comedy actor Warwick Davis hosted the event, and plenty of big names handed out awards, including Alan Carr, Alesha Dixon, Jonathan Ross, Jimmy Akingbola (a pal of mine – he used to play Malick in Holby City), Sarah-Jane Crawford (presenter of The Xtra Factor on ITV2), Jimmy Mistry from Coronation Street and Gok Wan – to name a few. My lovely friend Ria and I danced our little tootsies off at the after party, which was held at the ITV Studios in Central London. Super night out and all the winners were very deserving – check out the winner list!

CDN Awards 2014

Last week it was a year since we had to put our darling cat, Conkers, down. Austen and I miss him so. All through the year we’ve recalled little memories about it and 2015 might just be the year we consider inviting a new cute little meowing ball of fluff into our world… watch this space.

    Hi Marv,
You have been very busy! Glad you’ve been having a good time at all your events. I find Warwick Davis really refreshing and I always enjoy seeing him on t.v. whether on shows or being interviewed. He’s got a great sense of humour so I’m sure he enhanced the evening :)
The photos of Conkers highlight what a gorgeous cat he was – I can completely understand how much you two must miss him. If you do get a kitten, I know it’ll be just as happy and as loved as Conkers was by both of you. XXX
Take care and have a great week,
    Beth xxx.
PS Yes, it was fab having my nieces to stay – they were only here 24 hours but it was brilliant :)
