Beauty, beauty everywhere!

January seems to have been all about beauty for me! I’m not sure if it’s because it is the start of a new year or because in January all the indulgence in December is written large across my face and I don’t like it! Surely I can’t be alone? Is anyone else seeing every ‘late night’ and every ‘cheeky sherry’ from the festive period taking the toll on their visage?

With this in mind I decided to get to grips with what I should be doing to help my skin, so off I went to spend the day with Emer Gillen from Elemis, familiar to many of you as one of our on-air guests, at their headquarters in the centre of London.

Emer, now heavily pregnant, was very patient with me and our initial conversation about winter skincare quickly segued into an in depth discussion about their range of products and what new problem-solvers are coming in 2016 (plus I got a sneaky peak at the next TSV – my lips are sealed!). It was an incredibly informative few hours were I really started to understand not only how each of the individual products in the Elemis family work on their own but how their results are really enhanced by being used in combination. For example, the Cellular Recovery Skin Bliss Capsules, whilst great for helping to balance the skin, are even more effective when applied after cleansing with the Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm, and then followed with the award-winning Pro-Collagen Marine Cream.

After we had finished I went off to have a skin analysis done at the House of Elemis Spa. This was a real eye-opener. It really showed the levels of hydration (or more accurately dehydration) in my skin, as well as the sun damage I have experienced over the years. This is something I think everyone should have done at some point, because no matter how good we think our skin looks on the surface, there is always damage or issues that we can’t see with the naked eye.

A few days later I met with Adele O’Donoghue from SBC to have a catch up with her about their gels, and what I could be using to help me feel a little better about my tired old winter skin. We chatted in particular about their Collagen range, which most people I know at QVC use, and now includes a Skincare Gel, a Bath & Shower Creme, a Body Butter, and a 3-in-1 Cleanser that is particularly good for dry and dull skin – exactly what I need at this time of the year!

One of their latest additions to the range, the Arnica & Black Pepper Warming Body Cream, has been a constant companion of mine for when my back feels like it needs a little rub! If I ever go back to the gym at least I know I can use their Camphor & Menthol Massage Gel for what massaging what will surely be tired, aching limbs!

If all that wasn’t enough I was then at the QVC Beauty Bash 2016 just last week. I missed last year’s bash so was keen to get back again. I always relish the opportunity to meet all of you at these events. So many of you came up and chatted to me, thank you for that. What many of you said was that you felt you knew me and my fellow presenters because you spend so much time with us and that was so great to hear, and a real reminder to me that when I am on air I am also in your living rooms, and you are right there with me. I must never forget that.

I was so impressed with the number and variety of brands we had at the event, both old and new. James Read, bareMinerals, Liz Earle, Decleor, OPI, Gatineau, Laura Geller, Imedeen, Percy & Reed, Alpha-H and many more regular faces were there. Then there were the newcomers, or at least the ones that were new to me like Dr. Dennis Gross, NudeStix and a fantastic new skincare brand that is focused on overall skin health called NIOD – I suspect they are going to be very popular!

Where you lucky enough to be at the event, if so it’d be great to hear what you thought and what your experience was like.

Whilst there, myself and my fellow presenters were responsible for getting visitors involved in some social media interaction. There was a photo area for selfies, and if you posted it with #QVCBeautyBash2016 you could be in with a chance to win a beauty hamper worth £500!! Well, even though we were not eligible for the prize draw that did not stop me and Debbie Flint, Marverine Cole, Ali Keenan and Jackie Kabler from getting involved. I think the pics speak for themselves – what a group of posers!! LOL – Or is that just me?? Okay don’t answer that!

Anyway, that’s been my month so far, it’s been wall-to-wall beauty, who knows what February will be filled with. I tell you what though, I can’t wait to find out!!

One exception to my own personal ‘beauty month’ was filming a preview of our Jewellery Day event on February 5th. My preview will be available to watch for three days before the big event, and on the day there are some incredible pieces including the most gorgeous Ming Pearl earrings from Honora. I’ve also recorded a short piece about this gorgeous Waterloo bracelet from Lola Rose that’s our newest Jewellery Icon, launching on the 5th. Check out the video.
