Ruth Frances, TV presenter, voice-over artist and Becca guest

Q: What is the best piece of beauty advice you have ever received?

A: The best beauty advice was from my mum (who has the best skin ever) to always cleanse, tone and moisturise my face before bed. Ever since I was old enough to wear make-up, she really hammered it home how important it is for your skin to regenerate whilst you sleep. I think I’ve managed to remove my make-up, tone and moisturise even after the latest of late nights, or at least cleanse and moisturise!

Q: Have you ever made a beauty blunder you now regret?

A: Plucking my eyebrows to oblivion in the 90s. It was a very sad time for eyebrows! All of the girls at school would come in armed with their tweezers and we would all do our own and each other’s on our lunch breaks! I still regret it now as I struggle to get my eyebrows naturally thicker. I do use Revitabrow now though and that definitely helps.

Q: Tell us about the hero product/ranges you always recommend.

A: I have been working with Becca for over 18 months now and it has been a joy to be able to recommend different products for different ‘glow’ fans! Some women love a full strobing highlight and some love a subtle, natural glow (like you’ve just done a yoga class). A great place to start with your make-up look whichever style you prefer, is your primer. Becca have their two primers available on QVC and they are just beautiful.

The Backlight Priming Filter provides a diffused, soft focus glow on the skin and contains the Becca pearls that give your skin a lit-from-within radiance to backlight your foundation. Make-up lasts longer and the youthful, subtle glow is flattering on all skin types. It also contains liquorice extract for added skin care benefits and a tightening effect.

The First Light Priming Filter is another Becca wonder product for anyone with fine lines, dullness, fatigue, dehydration and/or puffiness. It softly scatters translucent, cool violet light across the complexion to brighten and even skin. It looks violet in colour but applies sheer, don’t worry! It refreshes skin and contains a form of hyaluronic acid along with spring water, prickly pear extract and ginger to really help with those bad skin days!

Q: What is the best piece of beauty advice you have ever received?

A: When you want to do a full, dramatic smokey eye look, always start with a clean face. It allows you to be free to get a little messy and make mistakes as you can clean up afterwards and then go in with your base! Also always apply a concealer or eyelid primer to your lids, it will help the longevity of your eye make-up and really make the colour pop!

Remember the key to a smokey eye is to blend, blend, blend… you don’t want to see any harsh lines! Use a cotton bud with a little primer on to clean up and shape the eye underneath and to lift at corners. This technique was taught to me by Jemma Kidd and is always used backstage at Fashion Week.

Q: Have you ever made a beauty blunder you now regret?

A: I remember wearing super dark almost black lip liner and a really light shade on my lips! I thought I looked amazing, but now when I see the photos I cringe! Haha!

Q: Tell us about the hero product/range you always recommend

A: My hero products are still the Prime Time Original Primer and Original SPF 15 Foundation. These two products combined can transform a complexion. They will leave you looking radiant and healthy, ready to take on the world!

Lisa Potter-Dixon, head make-up artist for Benefit

Q: What is the best piece of beauty advice you have ever received?

A: My Nan always told me to never leave the house without a bit of lippie and perfect brows. So I’ve always lived by that rule!

Q: Have you ever made a beauty blunder you now regret?

A: I’ve had some interesting make-up looks. But I don’t think I regret any of them as at the time I wore them, I must have loved the look. Make-up is about personal expression, so whatever look you choose to do, rock it! And don’t worry about what the you of 10 years’ time will think.

Q: Tell us about the hero product/range you always recommend

A: The Benefit brow collection is, for me, one of the most innovative make-up collections ever. There’s a product for everyone and they solve every brow dilemma out there, from sparse brows to bushy brows, over-plucked to overgrown, your brows will just look better with these beauties. My faves are the Precisely My Brow Pencil and Gimme Brow.
