Charlie Bears Museum Opening
At long last, it’s open! Stop Press! Pics from today’s (Friday 1st) opening at Charlie Bears ‘bearhouse’ HQ in Launceston in Cornwall, of the new museum – Charlie’s pride and joy. Plus a chat with Charlie herself about seeing her dream realised – one that began with demands from customers for a place they could visit, to see some of the most famous of these cuddly collectables that so many QVC customers have fallen in love with.
Charlie has always had the ambition to open a gallery where our collectors can come and see the retired bears in the fluff. With the wow factor at the turn of every corner right down to the smallest detail. The museum show cases the majority of the bears Charlie has ever designed and was opened in conjunction with the charity Make a Wish UK by lovely Elspeth on 1st July 2016 at 11am.
Little Elspeth travelled down from Scotland with her family to be the guest of honour and open the museum officially, via the wonderful Make a Wish foundation. She absolutely loved it.
The guys really have done themselves proud, they took me on a tour of Hugsley Manor – a series of clever scenes, some in enchanting avenues featuring special little shop fronts. It’s like a spectacular grotto full of Iconic characters, heroes, memorabilia, and tributes to the power of CharlieBears.
Well done Will and Charlie!!
I’ll be adding more pics through the day on my Facebook page here, click it for latest info.
Plus a new website newsletter on my home page here (subscribe for regular emails from me!)
It’s a wonderful place to go to the Bearhouse in Launceston – do visit if you can! Website here.
Dordogne Did it for Me! So much so, I’m going back in October! If you missed my Postcard from Bordeaux blog post read here. Yes Chez Castillon is one of the most wonderful writing places on this earth, in my humble opinion! I did lots of vlogs!
Including this one, a vlog from the banks of the Dordogne river!
The rest of my week consisted of the most delicious French breakfasts (no cheese for me tho of course!), a long walk each day with Rory dog down by the Dordogne, a swim in the pool out the back of the huge town house, and lots of talks and banter and tuition about my writing. Evening supper al fresco, some meals out, plus visits to some of the nearby landmarks too. Can’t wait for October! Click here to see lots of videos and more pics!
Talking of Writing – Go here to my current RiWiSi writing blog, for info about crime writing course this weekend if you’re a last-minute-dot-com kind of person, as they have a couple of spaces! (2nd July onwards, only hour and half from Gatwick to Bordeaux.)
Go here to link to first pics from the week! And last week’s newsletter including cool book of week if you need a little lift in life.
Roll on October when I go back! Lol. Still got to book my trip to Spain for that wedding at the end of July – wonder what the pound will be worth by then! Lol. More importantly, what to wear… : – )
Sunshine After the Rain Gosh what a rainy month it’s been! Considering what I came back to after my break, here’s a nice thought – that translates on so many levels.
MEDICAL DETECTION DOGS UPDATES
Please come help or see us in Kent County Show on MDD stand 8-10 July!
Well we’re not long away from our next little fundraiser, which is going to be running a stand at the Kent show in Deitling, along with the ‘Claire and Pal’ combination from MDD, and her super friends. Claire was the lovely lady who came along to my Wotton show too. Here’s a reminder of what she said on that day and how it changed her life to be given a super canine partner to help with her blood sugar detection problems – life-changing. ‘He saves my life on a daily basis’ – watch this.
Be a helper Oh and if you can spare a few hours and you’re one of my regulars, just email me firstname.lastname@example.org. We currently have a space on Sunday afternoon, all day Friday 8th and some of Saturday. A free entry ticket for helpers is included (normally costs £17.) We will be running a tombola, lucky dip, ‘guess the sniff’ stall and tons of info about Medical Detection Dogs for visitors. (And don’t forget on the Saturday lunchtime there will be a big bodyblade get together at Rochester castle – email me for info.)
MDD report What a fabulous charity this is, courtesy of lovely Dr Claire Guest here, with her dog Daisy. Plus here’s a Cambridge Uni explanation of how lovely dogs like Magic, can help science – as featured on this report. Click here to watch it. (embed if poss hon)
Lesley the Puppy Update – Pup-date! Looks like little Lesley is getting on really well! She is so adorable – I will be seeing her soon I hope, with my monthly trip up to the HQ for a puppy party!
Book of the Week is a super summer beach read by my writing pal Jules Wake – ‘Escape to the Riviera’ online and in good bookshops now, more here on my Read it Write it Sell it blog!
Watch – Me Before You – another one to put on my list, based on a top-selling book by JoJo Moyes – the darling of many a women’s fiction fanatic. Would like to see it with Lauren my daughter, so I’ll keep you informed! Have also downloaded Trumbo, at last, considering it bypassed my local cinema despite being heavily promoted with trailers there – hate it when that happens! But looking forward to watching it – it’ll be next week’s watch, Helen Mirren and a 50s Hollywood setting. This one though, is current day, a super heart-wrencher – if you see it, leave me a comment below. ‘You are pretty much the only thing that makes me want to get up in the morning…’ Ahhhhh!

Here is where to go to find out more about all my books – Top 50 Kindle bestseller Take a Chance on Me, other novels and short stories and anthologies. Plus non-fiction weight loss books TTFLS etc.
Latest testimonials for ‘Till the Fat Lady Slims’ & Bodyblading. I love this from Eileen. How lovely. I feel very proud x
TTFLS has been a whirlwind of opportunities, challenges, embedding perma habits and shifting relationships since my last weigh in before Easter. Indeed the scales figure has become redundant in my life, a trifling curiousity after being my trusty flail of self flagellation and rock of self-hatred. So at our end of term diet club meeting last night I was surprised to learn not only have I lost 2% of my body fat but am down to 11st 8lb. I can truely appreciate the ttfls exercise of ditching the scales. Key point to Food Freedom 8 says Dont set yourself up to fail by having too many rules, forget every rule surrounding food and point 13 Dont let others,or your own thoughts, get you down – by ditching the scales I have been able to fully encompass these two difficult points and made sure the food prison is a place I nolonger inhabit. The brain space that was taken up standing on the scales and obeying the reading has been turned to gratitude awareness and daily joys. My mood is lifted, I nolonger feel pessimistic (though cant say I am full of optimism), the skys are bluer and I feel a confidence deep within. Whatever life brings I have skills and strategies in my tool bag that are a mile away from eating to deaden the pain or quash the fear. Freedom Eating works!
