READY foundation

Last week we launched the sought-after bareMinerals READY Foundation and I thought I'd provide some extra information on how to choose the perfect shade.

Their compact formula gives you a much more formal, glamorous feel. For those days when you prefer a more natural or lighter coverage it's great to have your bareMinerals Original foundation to hand.

Here's a little guide to help you choose the right shade for your skin tone based on what you have bought from the Original Foundation range…

Normally buy Fair?
Opt for the Light 150

Normally buy Fairly Light?
Light 170 or Medium 250 are the closest matches. Light 170 is the lighter of the two. Medium 250 is slightly warmer than the Original bareMinerals Fairly Light shade.

Normally buy Medium?
Opt for Medium 250.

Normally buy Light?
Go for Medium 250 or Medium 270. Medium 250 will suit those with more neutral undertones. Medium 270 will be better for those with sallow or yellow undertones.

Normally buy Medium Beige?
Medium 250 or Tan 310 are best for you. Medium 250 is slightly paler than the Original Medium Beige foundation. Tan 310 (Catherine Huntley and Debbie Greenwood) has warmer undertones.

Normally buy Medium Tan?
Tan 310 or Tan 330 are the best options. Tan 310 has cool undertones. Tan 330 (Pipa and Alison Keenan) has warmer undertones.

Normally buy Tan?
Go for Tan 350, this would be Jennifer Lopez's shade.

Normally buy Medium Dark?
Opt for Dark 450 or Deep 530. Dark 450 (Halle Berry) has golden red undertones. The Deep 530 (Rhianna) will be great for those with pure cool blue undertones.

We don't currently have shades in the bareMinerals Ready Foundation range that are suitable for blue/red African Carribean skin tones. If this is you it's best to stick with the Original or Matte bareMinerals foundations. However watch this space – I'm told by bareMinerals there are some fab new shades coming soon!

Love, Ali x

Hi, I have just received my Bare Minerals Ready foundation and am unsure whether or not to use the Mineral Veil as usual.

I ordered the medium 270 and am normally a medium beige as is my friend who I would class as sligjhtly lighter than me. She tried this as did I. It was like looking like a ghost. Considering we both usually use medium beige even though she is slightly lightler than me this made us both look ridiculous. After wasting money on p&p we both now know that Tan 310 is the colour. Better info and keeping the colours the same would really help. The scheduled programmes which kept saying wait to the end or wait for a full description did not help and this is disappointing from my favourite shopping channel. Please go for tan 310 if you are normally medium beige. Otherwise you waste your money on p&p for delivery and return.

    Hi all,
I love bare minerals, but have found the colour selection available on QVC not quite right for me. Hopefully the below will help someone else to try the new ready colours as they are fab!
I am afro-carribean and I normally wear Golden Medium; I find the Tan 330 is perfect. I had to go to a Bare Mineral’s counter to try it on as the celebrity examples are not quite right. Rhianna has a very similar complexion to Saffy – who was wearing the Tan 330 on air, when this launched – and even when tanned would probably not be in the Deep 530.
My skin has a yellow undertone, but I am not very fair I would say a honey afro-carribean. The original formulation tan shades are much too red for my skin tone.
    I hope that helps.

    DEAR QVC,
I APPRECIATE ALI YOUNG EXPERIENCE IN THE BEAUTY INDUSTRY. HOWEVER, WHENEVER COSMETICS ARE SAID TO BE SUITABLE FOR ALL SKIN TONES QVC FAILS TO DELIVER. BROWN/BLACK SKIN COMES IN MANY SHADES. NONE OF THE BRANDS QVC AIR CARTER FOR DARKER SKIN TONES EG BLACK AFRICAN, NOT YOUR LIGHT SKINNED MODELS THAT QVC ALWAYS SEEM TO REFER TO. PLEASE SHOW COSMETICS THAT CATER TO ALL.
