I took a couple of weeks away from the Q for a family break, and we had a lovely relaxing time. We had great weather, delicious food, and a relaxing environment away from the stresses of everyday life.
(Here’s Toby waiting for us to return home!)
It’s funny but not long after a holiday you find yourself checking your diary, or looking over photos, to convince yourself that you were actually away at all! I think it’s really important to take some time away from your usual routine, if at all possible – even if just for a few days.
When my break starts I think that the holiday will last for ever, and yet on the last day I’m saying to myself: “Where did that go?”.
This year, we returned to exactly the same place as last year and it really helped us to immediately get into the holiday spirit and slower pace. I know some of you reading this will prefer to try somewhere different each year, but I suppose it depends on exactly what you want from your break.
I read that UK ‘staycations’ are at an all time high and, generally, our UK weather has been pretty good this year (Richard Jackson – I take it all back!).
I hope you are all applying your sun protection; I’m pleased to say that I took my favourite Ultrasun Sports with me, although I started off with the SPF30 cream before moving onto the Sports SPF20.
Whilst away, I missed Christmas in July – which I hear was its usual busy self. It’s quite bizarre really, but this ‘unseasonal’ event that we borrowed from QVC US has become a real favourite with our customers, and I understand it was boiling hot on the day – perhaps more like Christmas in Australia!
Our lovely bearded collie Toby went to stay with my Mum, as usual, and had a great time. If you follow me on Twitter – @dalefranklinTV – you’ll perhaps have seen the picture of her parasol, or rather, what’s left of it!
I had a great response from customers, some asking if it was for real! Yes the picture is ABSOLUTELY genuine – you can just see Mum’s head at the bottom of the picture – I nearly had an accident laughing when she took it out of her shed and put it up.
The mice had obviously taken a liking to it for nesting material through the winter but they had been quite choosy, taking only the softer white material – which left the blue intact – hilarious!
Our garden plants and flowers were kept healthy during the heatwave by my trusty neighbour Jim who, you may recall, helped me with my ‘RubyDale’ lilies last summer. Our hydrangea this year has been amazing with blue, pink, and green blooms all at once.
I’m on mostly early shifts this week which makes a pleasant change from my usual later appearances, but once I’ve given my face a good ironing – it’s all good! (Kids, that’s supposed to be a joke!)
I’ll be on The Morning Show Wednesday and Friday; then with my good pal Richard Jackson on Sunday morning at 9am; and then later at midday with the one and only Simon Wilson for a fantastic two hour special of Butler & Wilson Fashion Jewellery Celebrating 19 Years on QVC.
Plus, I’ll be showing you some great electronics being ‘Dale.I.T’ for Catherine in her Technology and You show on Saturday 9th at 3pm.
As always, stay safe and healthy until next time,
