Is it too late to wish you a Happy New Year!
I hope not – I've only just come up for air after a week of cooking, celebrating and general festivities over Christmas, a busy week of work at QVC over New Year and then, last week, time spent coughing at home with a chest infection.
Everything is back to normal now, however, and we're only halfway through January and I am already noticing that the days are becoming slightly longer, if not drier! Wow, how it has rained over the last week or so – I hope you have stayed out of water.
I've added a couple of photos of my family Christmas. It was quite a large affair with 19 of us sitting around our kitchen table, which we extended using a piece of MDF cut-to-shape on top of a couple of garden tables.
My main worry was 'will there be enough to eat?' But with the help of two turduckens ordered from Green Seasons - there was ample. The meat (turkey stuffed with duck and chicken) was delicious, everything came together, and we had a wonderful few hours enjoying our meal.
After devouring the Christmas pudding and croquembouche (a pyramid of chocolate profiteroles, created by budding chef and son Charlie) we continued with birthday cake made by Bex in honour of my Aunty Barbara, who turned 91 years old on Christmas Day itself. All in all, a great day!
I hope you enjoyed some time with the people who make your life special, and have started 2014 with verve and vigour. All the best to you!
